I have mixed views on this. Firstly, Generalife and the whole Alhambra is fantastic and deserve 6 starts out of 5. What made me give it 3 stars are the negligence from the local government to provide the Alhambra what it deserves.

A- I have the right to use the disabled parking but this parking (#1) was closed, saying full and with a barrier on its entrance. I had to park with a disabled person in another parking to then walk to parking #1 and see that there's plenty of disabled parking available.

B- There's beggars around the parking. A woman gives you some plant (if you say No then she says it's an Alhambra tradition and you can't say No) and then immediately asks you for money for it.

Found a man then answering questions on where the entrance is and he immediately asks for money 'for his coffee'

C- why do people ask for directions? Because they're not clear. And using a mobility scooter is even worse because there's steps here and there, so you need to use it on the road while looking around for an entrance.

D- there is no accessibility map given to wheelchair or mobility scooter users.

E- there is no signage/directions inside for wheelchair or mobility scooter users either! You need to find local employees to ask where to go when you're stuck. Gladly, they do help by telling you to go here and there.

F- The amount of tourists visiting is huge. Therefore, the local café must match the level of the Alhambra. Bigger, fresher, more modern, more variety etc and that would bring more revenue to help maintain and improve the place.

For example, the Madina Zahra outside Córdoba has a nice café, why can't Alhambra have one?

Staff keeps making emphasis on the Nazarid palace ticket timings, but almost causes disabled people to be very late by blocking their parking, not providing a clear path for them either. So because of that, we could not...

No matter how much you have read or how many pictures you have seen of Granada's Alhambra palaces, this Moorish pleasure palace will still take your breath away. The Nasrid dynasty's royal palace is the artistic highlight of Spain's Islamic period, when Al-Andalus — as they called Andalucía — represented the epitome of culture and civilization in Europe's Middle Ages. The Alhambra complex includes several buildings, towers, walls, gardens, and a mosque, but it's the indescribably intricate stone carvings, the delicate filigrees, the magnificent tile-lined ceilings, the graceful arches, and serene courtyards of the Nasrid palace that will haunt your dreams. That said, the adjoining palace built for the Emperor Charles V, even in its unfinished state is the finest example of High Renaissance architecture in Spain. And Generalife's terraced gardens offer a peaceful respite from the grandeur, and splendid views back at the rest of...

A lot of miles walking. Immense grounds and buildings. But not at a high quality. Oh yes the palacio Carlos V is outstanding. The few fountains and squares are great in the Nasridic palace. To get into there you need to be on time to get in first and then the rest unfortunately. Because the other way around is nicer. The immense gardens are great, but not of a superior quality also due to drought during the long hot summers. But that is it.

Get your tickets the day before you go at for instance the afternoon because with reservation it took me 2 hours only waiting to get my reserved tickets. The logistics and information in the cue's are very poor. And that with only 7000 visitors allowed a day with 3 ticket boxes. All the TV and voice info are not readable from far nor from near buy. The English voice is so terrible that you can't tell the difference between Spanish nor...

🇪🇸 You’ll find one of the most beautiful palaces in Europe in Spain.
