Teatro Xesc Forteza — Attraction in Palma

The theatre is good. 361 seats (quite comfortable). Problem for artists is that scenery is very difficult to carry there, since it is in the old town and streets are to narrow to allow bigger vans. Forget about lorries. As the scenery is raised, it is not ideal for performances where much happens on the floor e.g. many contemporary dance pieces. Anyway a good place.

El Teatre Xesc Forteza, de propiedad municipal, está ubicado en uno de los barrios más emblemáticos de la Ciudad de Palma, el barrio de la Calatrava, lugar en el que en el medievo, los caballeros de la orden de la Calatrava tuvieron su sede. El edificio del teatro se construyó en un amplio solar y actualmente también tiene las funciones de Centro Cultural. Un teatro amplio, muy bien acondicionado y dotado de los últimos avances y comodidades, con capacidad para 361 personas. Rinde merecido recuerdo y homenaje, al que fue uno de los más grandes actores que ha tenido la isla de Mallorca, Xesc Forteza Forteza (1926 - 1999), fue también autor de muchas obras teatrales y director de teatro, fundó su propia compañía.
