This is actually next to the cathedral but it had an equally long queue at 11AM so we were hoping, correctly, that the queue at 2 would be a lot less. It was €7 to get in and we spent quite a long time wandering through the rooms and enjoying the view from the terraces. It had huge windows and when it was restored they discovered a lot of the original paint and decoration, hidden under whitewash. This really did feel like a palace rather than a castle and for me it was certainly a lot more interesting than the cathedral. It was also fun watching the huge number of hawkers bundle their stuff into blankets and run away every time they spot a police officer and then return and lay it all out again a few minutes later.

The Royal Palace of La Almudaina, is the Alcázar of Palma, the capital city of the Island of Majorca, Spain. This imposing alcázar, known at the time of the conquest with the name of "Zuda", was rebuilt in 1309 by the king James II , according to the model of the Royal Palace of Perpignan( France ) . In La Almudaina, the monarchs of the Kingdom of Majorca, the Aragonese monarchs and Spanish monarchs had their court successively. Philip II of Spain destined the "Tinell" to Real Audencia and installed in the rest of the building the General Captaincy of the Islands.

Super! Totally agree with the already sounded opinion that the Palace is much worthy place to visit vs nearby cathedral. It's also slightly less expensive (€7 per adult). Consider roughly 30-50 min for a visit. There're toilets inside. Not very suitable for with kids trolleys, due to some steps (from the ground floor to the first floor you can ask for an elevator, but there's none when you finish the route, and due to Covid you can only go one way, no chance to get back to the elevator). You have to wear a mask even in the open courtyard.

Palace with a little chapel inside, with a balcony that has views towards the sea. Some beautiful areas, particularly the courtyard outside and a few furnished rooms, but most of the rooms you walk through are empty, which is a shame, I would have preferred if they staged the rooms to look like how they would’ve looked in the past, and there are a few historical artefacts to see but not very many. Overall a nice little visit and the price isn’t too much however it was a bit bare and you just walk through empty rooms for most of it!
