Visited The Lagoon on 2nd September 24’ as a group of 7, a family of 4 from Spain who were my distinguished guests and 3 of us locally. The expectations were extremely high as I had been to the Lagoon many times before and I was aware that the standards had drastically reduced, but I never expected the standard to be of utmost mediocre level. I was nothing less than extremely disappointed with the quality of food, the quantity of food and the very sub standard service from the waiters who were most likely doing the job for the first time. My points of disappointment :
The manager taking orders in the black suit is usually the one who gives recommendations on food types and quantities. He should know if im ordering enough or not. I don’t think he knew how much was enough for a table of 7
The food was bland, zero taste, I don’t even remember what I ate
The quantity was utter disappointment. We had to go to another appointment so re-ordering was not an option
The dessert which was the famous Knickerbocker glory was just papaya with cream and ice cream and I felt sick after eating so much of it just to fill up my tummy as the main course was so little
The waitress serving had no idea how to divide portions equally. The first person being served got big chunks while the last got next to nothing
My bill was over 100k rupees for useless food which I really regret having. I could have had a better meal at a buffet somewhere and eaten far more heartily.
To the Lagoon and Cinnamon management – please look at your staff and quality of food. We pay top Rupee not to eat mediocre food. Train your staff, train your managers. Utterly disappointed and will not be visiting this place...
Read moreI came to the Lagoon restaurant to try their lobster. I managed to clinch a reservation for around 8 pm and they seated me at a corner table (since I was solo), away from the main action (I was not too happy). The seating areas are spread out, both inside and outside (by the water). The entrance to the restaurant is one floor below the main level, by stairs, and the outside within the hotel complex. I started with an appetizer of spicy fried sprats. It was superbly cooked, a nice balance of optimum crispness outside and tender meat on the inside. Came with a spicy sauce, which I hardly used because I preferred the flavor of the sprats by themselves. To order your main selection of seafood, one walks over to the main display of various varieties of seafood on ice. The selection is less than this restaurant’s main competitor (I will leave you to guess which one).
Choose what you desire, it is weighed in front of you and you can get an idea of the cost. Then choose how you wish it be prepared. Numerous options in style, with suggestions on which type of seafood is best for which choice. I had selected a lobster to be prepared Thermidor. The meat was tender, and the sauce thick, with a mild flavor. But. I do not think the dish was completed. Top grilling is needed to provide browning or slight charring on the top, so that there is a contrast in textures and a heightened flavor. This was absent. I ordered mashed potatoes as the accompaniment. It had the consistency of a thick soup with no taste of potatoes. I could only have one spoon of it. They overdid the consistency. Service was very...
Read moreHaving being to the restaurant, I was extremely excited to have my family who were visiting from India try the amazing food that I did. Or so I thought! Table booking is a facade, you can just walk in since the staff have absolutely no clue of how to attend or seat the waiting guests. Table given was not even prepped, it was just empty so I guess it fit the bill? Had to ask for spoons and placeholders from the staff. Which takes us to the star of the show - the staff They looked like billiards balls bouncing around the table, doing nothing but looking busy. Try catching eyes of a waiter, easier to catch a shooting star maybe. They ignore you, don't bother to acknowledge your calls or your existence even. I wish there was a way to give negative stars for this category! Food was sub par which arrived when we gave up hope after 1.5 hours of waiting and asked for bill, the food miraculously appeared. It felt like staff were more interested in catering to locals who probably were regulars, nothing wrong since they probably are only steady flow of income. But maybe it's time to make the place exclusive to the limited groups
We visited when a elderly gentleman was celebrating his birthday with 20 other guests. The usual restaurant would either block the restaurant for such events, block out a section with dedicated staff inorder to avoid impact on other paying customers. But Lagoon went a step ahead, they did none of that and had 6 member staff wall in with birthday cake while other waited to be serviced.
Definitely will let my reference know that this is a...
