Have booked here a stay for 5 days and have made a requested for a cake and candles because of our honeymoon. Through bookings.com reserved a superior room with a sea view, which cost 390£ with the genius discount I had,However when we arrived we have been told that they do not have a room, but they can upgrade the room to better one for a discounted price, so ended up paying 200£ more on the top of the price and room was not fully prepared. We felt rushed, no apology nothing. We had 48 hours long journey so I was not in the mood to fight extra for a room they do not have even tho they supposed to have.
Breakfast was fine in the all day restaurant , we tried a few times, however dinner was just not great. Restaurant environment is great too and staff working there was polite and well mannered. There is a lot of choice however food is cold, it is just not a 5 star hotel restaurant experience I am used to have in Sri Lanka. We have been staying in a few places so we knew what to expect and this was not in the brackets of what is advertised.
Thai restaurant RASA was great and food was great. Could not recommend more and food is very authentic and made to high standard.
Roof top bar and sky dive lounge had pool under maintenance already for 3 months according to the staff at the pool, so access was limited and with obstructing the view. Jacuzzi was not working either, water heated but no jacuzzi bubbles turned on, been told that it is under maintenance too. When I was making reservation this was mentioned so I was not shocked.
Room was very clean and good quality with the view and everything so can only say a positive things about the room itself.
In overall it is not worth the price of 5 star hotel for quality it offers, however it would be fitting a 4 star hotel. Been before staying in cinnamon red colombo and had much more positive experience then...
Read moreI am writing this review while still staying at the hotel, and honestly, I cannot wait to check out. I booked 7 nights here, and from day one the experience has been extremely disappointing.
The room itself had serious issues. The toilet air vent was covered in dirt, which made the stay very difficult as I was traveling with someone highly sensitive to dust. I showed a photo of it to the reception manager, who was shocked and promised it would be cleaned. Yet, even after several reminders, nothing was ever done, and the vent remains the same.
Cleanliness across the property is well below standard. The carpets throughout the hotel give off a foul odor, and overall maintenance feels neglected. I had stayed here before under previous management when it was well - kept and welcoming, but sadly those days are gone.
Service was equally disappointing. At breakfast, only the hostess greeted us with a smile. Beyond that, staff were inattentive and unfriendly. I had to ask for a coffee four times before it finally came, without a spoon. By the time I was able to stir in sugar, it was already cold. For a property that claims to be 5 star, this level of service is unacceptable.
What makes it worse is the complete absence of the famous Sri Lankan hospitality, which is usually warm and genuine. Here, it was nowhere to be found.
Though I considered moving to another hotel, my stay was prepaid and my work schedule didn’t allow me to go through the hassle. But given how this has turned out, I regret not doing so.
Overall, this hotel does not feel like a 5 star property at all. The lack of cleanliness, poor service, and indifference to guest concerns make it a place I would not return to,...
Read moreGiven the positive dining experiences in the past while under Movenpick, we chose NH for Christmas Eve dinner. When making the reservation, I was assured that the F&B standards in quality had not changed under the new brand specs. This was not so and a complete disappointment and frankly a total waste of money! Cost cutting measures seems to be the primary focus!!
On arrival at the entrance, not a single person in sight, no security, valet, café server or anyone at the lower level! it took close to 5 minutes to find a "person", needed to check if the hotel was in fact functioning!! At the restaurant, it seemed we were the only guests (a few others joined later). The staff at the restaurant were trying really hard and were charming and helpful - however, sadly clueless on basic service sequences, zero knowledge on wine basics as well, they needed to be guided (by us on all counts!). On the buffet, no proper name tags or serving utensils, food lukewarm. Presentation wise, initial impression, looked good, however the quality was very, very poor, old or recycled. Sashimi was warm and looked unsafe. The roasts were all dried out. Dessert counter, once again looked impressive, however disastrous quality, dried out tasteless cakes, refrozen, crystalized ice cream - not edible, a total disappointment. In fact, 3 of our party had upset stomachs the next day! If I may suggest, the hotel should focus on getting the basics right in F&B, prior to venturing into upscale offerings targeting non residential guests from the local market. Yes, we were very upset and disappointed on Christmas Eve, however these comments are meant as constructive feedback for...
