The best collection of bird taxidermy I have ever seen. Beats the National History Museum in London, which displays only a handful of species in comparison. Some of the exhibits here date back to the 19th century! Of course some examples are a bit goofy but for early taxidermy they still hold up pretty nicely. You can compare different bird species across the world, including such continents like the Americas, Australia, Europe and Asia. There is also a room showing early dioramas showing birds in their natural habitats. These are ingenious and nice to look at.

A different great room is devoted to marine animals, with the big blue whale model towering over other sea mammals. Another impressive encounter is in the land mammals section, where you can find a preserved African Elephant.

I would only complain that the absence of English labels is quite painful. I could not learn about the dioramas or a Swedish scientist who prepared them, also all animals are only presented by their Swedish and Latin name. There are also minor inconveniences, like a faulty elevator or an uninspired shop with too little actual scientific books.

The collection is great but I would hope for some more adjustment to make the experience...

Great place to visit with kids. The expo is dated and old fashion in its style but that is also part of the overall charm of the place as it shows the historical way of exhibiting nature and science objects.

The museum is both buggy and handicap accessible but bring a lock for the buggys as they need to be parked in the communal entry hallway.

Coats are also hung in a common accessible wardrobe which is not secure so ensure you bring something to carry valuables with you!

There is also a small coffee shop on the ground floor and a souvenir shop.

Parking is an issue if you arrive by car, as you will need to use public street parking nearby or park a quite way away on the Slottskogens parking lots which all are very busy during high season. Best option is to take public transport here.

Also for the beginning of 2020 ensure to check the museums website as the famous whale room is due to close for...

This place is amazing. It's worth the visit definitely especially if you have kids but even adults who are interested in wildlife will find this place magnificent. The entry is free of charge and you can easily reach this place by public transport to the bussstop Linne platsen. In this museum you can see almost all sorts of wildlife from insects, to brids, to mammals and even dinosaurs and whales. The animals are real and are stuffed and beautifully preserved. Makes you wonder and contemplate the variety of creatures on this planet and how big/ small they actually are. This is a great place to learn about animals without having to suffer from the smell of zoos or the feeling of captivity. Very interesting and the place is clean and tidy. Toilets are present and the workers were so nice and helpful. They deserve a raise. I definitely...
