Brasserie Lipp — Restaurant in Zurich

I hosted a large dinner for my company at this restaurant. We had a very poor experience and I wrote to the management only to be completely ignored, this is the feedback I provided which should be made public should anyone else choose to hold an activity here:

Our vice president led a champagne toast with a short speech followed by a bit of laughter. We were told discourteously by one of your servers (not our waiter, who was wonderful), that we needed to be quiet because two older ladies sitting nearby were upset by the noise. First of all, your establishment is not considered “quiet”, which is exactly why we chose to hold our celebratory holiday dinner in your restaurant. Secondly, the women were aggressively rude and proceeded to stare at us and make comments in our direction for the rest of their dinner. One of these women even confronted my colleague in the bathroom. Since our group is largely made up of international people, I suspect that their behaviour was rooted in xenophobia, which in no occasion be catered to. Especially when our party of 18 spent over 2,500 CHF in your restaurant. This unfortunate decision from your management seriously hindered the jovial atmosphere for the evening and I am not...

Completely shocked! The onion soup I ordered came with a pinkish paste on the side. I tasted and it had a fishy flavor which I did not like so I stopped eating and left it pretty much full except for a dip of one teaspoon.

After a couple of minutes the waitress came by and said, "This is for the fish soup. You don't need that" and took it away. I watched her go away to her arrangement spot about two tables away from me (where the cashier is), gave the paste a steer to cover the dip I made when I tasted it, and then quickly gave it to another person eating what I believe is a fish soup a couple of tables away from me. Yuck....

I would not expect that from any normal restaurant, especially not from a classy and pricy restaurant with such a good reputation. The place was packed with people and they were in a rush but this is simply disgusting. If that's what going on with the waiters, i couldn't start to image what's going on in the kitchen.

BTW, Later on I saw another waiter bring a dish with french fries. One fell from the dish and the waiter simply...

Really disappointed. Some people told me that this was one of the best French restaurants in Zurich. I disagree with that statement.

Had escargots to start, not bad but not amazing either. I ordered the sea bass since it came highly recommended by our server. The fish wasn't flaking off as it's usually supposed to when it's really fresh. This one was 52 CHF, the most expensive fish dish on the menu and so that's what I expected. It was not very flavorful and just overwhelmed with spices. Not good at all. My friend ordered the typical Swiss dish - wiener schnitzel. It was just okay, nothing special. By this point, we were hoping the desserts would make up for the disappointment.

Unfortunately, desserts were also very disappointing. We ordered the apple pie and it was way too sweet and felt like something I could get in a super market and not a nice restaurant.

Only plus is the service was great. When one of our escargots were missing from its shell, they not only replaced that one but gave us 2 additional ones.

Overall, Wouldn't recommend coming to this...
