We had a 7 day-6 night family trip in Chiang Mai, this is our first time in Chiang Mai, and we went to the Calm Massage and Spa twice!
The whole experience is amazing and relaxing from the very beginning. All the staff including front desk staff and massage staff are all gentle, welcoming, kind and professional.
Generally, the massage environment is clean and quiet. There are three floors for different sessions of massages. For sessions to take off all your clothes, the space in the 3rd floor feels safe and private. There are more customers in the 2nd floor area, sometimes when customers are walking in and out, there will be more noises. However, the whole experience is still calming and amazing.
We tried 1-hour Thai traditional massage, deep tissue massage with hot oil aromatherapy and back/head and shoulder coconut balm massage respectively during the first visit.
And then we tried 2-hour long trekking recovery massage (foot massage 30min + Thai traditional massage 60min + back/head & shoulder massage 30min) and Thai paradise massage (back/head & shoulder massage 30min + Thai massage with herbal ball compress 90min).
The ingredients of coconut balm, hot oil aromatherapy (there are four kinds of flavor to choose from, I chose riceberry, and I love it!) and herbal ball are high-quality and extraordinarily soothing.
The massage staff are amazing! They really put efforts into pushing and compressing every inch of our body. It must be super energy-demanding for them to deliver the massage, since they all seemed sighed in relief and sense of accomplishment afterwards. We are beyond grateful for their time and strength to give us such a nourishing and relaxing experience.
Everyone has different feeling about the massage strength and intensity. However, the massage staff will check in with you and adjust according to your most feedback throughout the whole process. Appreciate their sophisticatedly delivered profession very much! Thank you guys all so much to give us wonderful memories during our...
Read moreWe wanted to have a nice spa evening so we came to this place because of the good reviews. The facilities are very clean and nice. You get drinks at the beginning and at the end, which is very nice. They wash your feet before you go upstairs for the massage.
But the lady at the reception left us feeling very stressed because we had to down our drinks and we had to make up our minds very fast. We didnt really got the chance to relax and find the perfect fit for us because she kept asking which massage we want and if we want one at all.
My masseuse was not that bad and she did a good job, so no complaints for her.
But my friends masseuse seemed very stressed because they started like 1 minute after us because my friend had to go to the toilette. It seemed like she wanted to race us and make up for the 'lost time'. Also she snickered everytime she saw my friends breasts. Which made her feel very uncomfortable. The masseuse started something and didnt finish or tried to do two things at once. She then finished earlier which makes no sense as they started later.
Also the room was very cold and the AC was on all the time. I told them i was cold so they put the temperature a bit up and closed the curtains. But when you are laying there naked, you will eventually get very cold so we told them again (because they opened the curtains again). And we found that the music is a bit too loud.
The receptionist also came upstairs to talk to our masseuse and ask them how much longer they would need while they were massaging us. That was very confusing because there was a break a few times. I dont expect someone to come and disturb the calm while i am at a massage (especially for the price and the good reviews).
I dont know if we came at a bad time or if one masseuse was new and the other one knew what she was doing. But if I pay that much i expect that every masseuse does the same job. It felt a bit as if they squeezed us in between because we didnt have an...

Price: 1200 baht for 2 persons, 60 minutes each.
Massage - ⭐️⭐️ The massage was the biggest let down. We picked the 60-minute coconut balm head/heck/should/back massage. From the name, I assumed it would be somewhat like an aromatherapy massage where they would stroke the oil into your body while massaging tension and knots. In reality, the masseuse reach under my top and rubbed the balm all over my back, then massaged over a layer of blanket over my shirt.
By "massage" I mean she spent about about 35-40 minutes just elbowing around my spine. Not in strokes, but again, over my shirt + a blanket, just moving from one spot to another along my spine and shoulder blade, pressing down with the weight of her body. Sometimes she misses and her elbow ends up on my spine and it hurts.
I have never had someone rub a bunch of oil on me just to press on my through 2 layers of fabric. I'm really confused.
The neck/head part was very pleasant, but sadly very short...
For the price, I really expected better.
Environment - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ While I was in the bathroom, the place blacked out. The whole bathroom went pitch black. I could not see anything, and struggled to even find the lock on the door to go outside. 😭
I don't think the blackout is their fault, but it was not a good experience for me to be locked in a small space in pitch black.
But that's not really why I gave it 3 stars. The 3 stars is for generally how loud it was. The second floor is pretty quiet, masseuses don't chat (thank you), BUT the people downstairs surely do. I don't know if it is the staff or the guests, but the stairs opens into the 2nd floor massage area with no barrier so we got our massages while listening to loud chattering from downstairs. 🙁
Ending thoughts: For the price, we expect better. We will...
