Indy Night Market — Attraction in Makkasan Subdistrict

If you’re visiting Phuket old town, be sure to catch the Indy night market. Our most memorable night of our 2 week trip to Thailand thanks to the warm and welcoming vibes of the locals.

We originally came for some food, of which there was a vast selection of fresh options for all tastes, from homemade sausage to roti dessert. We found the prices very reasonable, the vendors clean, and the service incredibly friendly.

The clothes vendors had a great selection and weren’t pushy like other markets we had visited in Thailand. We ended up having a lovely conversation about life in Thailand with the vendor, who thoughtfully picked out the options she thought would work best for me.

We stayed far longer than planned thanks to a warm welcome from the owner of the market himself, his friends, and the musicians who had performed that evening. They invited us to their table where we shared drinks and laughs until the early hours, and have made friends we hope to see again when back in Thailand.
