Park Silom — Attraction in Si Lom Subdistrict

My wife and I typically shop at The Foodland near the Column Tower on Sukhumvit 16. Recently, she discovered a new location on Google Maps that is closer to our restaurant. Therefore, we decided to explore it tonight, as we need to grab some bottles of red wine for our upcoming short vacation in Ratchaburi.

Park Silom is a contemporary mixed-use development situated in Bangkok's Silom area. It offers a combination of office spaces, retail outlets, and dining establishments. As one of Bangkok’s prominent business districts, Park Silom is recognized for its prime location, upscale amenities, and lively atmosphere that seamlessly blends business, shopping, and leisure. The complex aims to serve as an urban lifestyle hub, appealing to both locals and tourists who visit for work, shopping, and dining experiences.

As we arrived at the new Foodland location within Park Silom, we were immediately impressed by its modern design and spacious layout. The store was bustling with activity, yet the wide aisles and well-organized shelves made for a pleasant shopping experience. We quickly found the wine section, which boasted an excellent selection of both local and international wines. After some deliberation, we picked a few bottles of a rich Cabernet Sauvignon and a smooth Merlot, perfect companions for our upcoming retreat.

Before heading to the checkout, we decided to explore a bit more. The variety of gourmet food items was impressive, tempting us to add a few artisanal cheeses and a freshly baked baguette to our basket. As we walked through the aisles, the lively atmosphere of Park Silom was palpable, with people enjoying the various dining options and browsing through the chic retail outlets.

The parking system here is ridiculous. You get 30 minutes free, with an extra 30 minutes if you spend 500 baht, but after that it’s 100 baht per hour.

The parking is extremely narrow, making it difficult for larger cars. Parking is also limited, so you can easily spend a long time just looking for a spot. By the time you finally park, you barely have enough time to eat within the hour. On top of that, you still need to validate your ticket, which takes even more time. I usually make it out with only a minute or two to spare.

It would make much more sense if they reduced the fees during the evening, when the offices are closed, to encourage the dinner crowd.
