Phuket Town Bus Terminal — Attraction in Talat Nuea

There are three main bus stations/terminals in Phuket Town:

1 Phuket Bus Terminal 1 (the 'old' bus station off Phang Nga Road) features minibuses linking Phuket to major destinations around Thailand.

2 Phuket Bus Terminal 2 (the 'new' bus station on Thepkasattri Road) features large buses linking Phuket to major destinations around Thailand.

3 The local bus station on Ranong Road in the Old Town (famous for its market) links Phuket Town to all beaches in Phuket

The blue songtheaws link Ranong Road to all Phuket beaches (the destination is written on each bus), and the pink songtheaws assure transfers between the three bus stations/terminals in Phuket Town.

Positive: Bus seems to be relatively scheduled and on time with relatively transparent pricing (60B/p from Phuket town to Patong Beach).

Negative (impractical to unusable for tourists): For people staying in Phuket town it does not make any sense to have the last bus from the Phuket west-coast to leave only at 3.30pm. We wanted to hop on a early afternoon bus to get to Katon beach until we realized that we wouldn’t be able to take the bus back to Phuket town in the evening and would have had to take a taxi or something similar which would have been unreasonably pricey.
