Took on a 16 week lease for a studio silver + at 377ÂŁ a week. Very poor value to money. Lot of superfluous gadgets whereas some basics are missing.
The kitchen hood with no button to adjust its power is inconvenient and noisy, paired with the "smart" hob that cannot work more than 15min. The alleged "gym" is a mere 16m² room with a single treadmil, two elliptical bikes and one bench with sets of dumbells ranging from 2kg to 20kg.
Lot of 110dB fire alarms (days and nights, about 2 per week), making it stressful to carry out job interviews for example. If you wonder why: (1) lot of residents smoke in their bedroom, thereby morevoer filling corridors with an exquisite cigarette smoke (2) detection devices are (very, and too) sensitive. I already triggered the small one on the kitchen hood by boiling water (really, just plain boilling water). (3) You cannot open windows more than a few centimetres. Nevertheless, people in charge came to the conclusion that their system was so efficient that they did'nt need fire extinguishers anymore. (They should read the The Boy Who Cried Wolf).
The technical staff is lovely, reactiv and efficient, as well as some receptionnists, focused on supplying a welcome help. Unfortunately, some other recpetionnists are not up to their colleagues, up to lying to them.
Poor accoustic isolation. It is such a stark contrast between the brand image the company wants to put forward "best year yet, best moments yet, best wathever yet" and the actual reality.
The gears and furniture quality is good though (everything is new), good layout taking advantage of the surface, lot of storage in the bedroom, good wifi quality even though being at the last but one floor (the 5th) I have poor to no phone signal. The location is convenient with a 30min walk to king's building campus, you may also use the nearby free university shuttle. Meeting rooms or the reception living room are comfy and net (when others bad raised residents don't let their trashs and put their dirty plates (!!!) back in the cupboard, just like that).
Speaking about, a lot of trashes in washing machine drums, including gross hairballs, lighters (yes), teared face tissues, etc. ; which makes me wonder if some residents even care about the community life and the technical staff.
Even though my view is great, please be aware that the outskirt of The Mont is still a construction site with a lot of flats looking out onto scafoldings, with the associated noise, dust and dirt.
Eventually, the overall impression is of a botch job from the company that some lovely staff people are trying to prop up, resulting in this overpriced residence.
Edit : some review may seem more positiv since they offered us treats (kinder buenos, seriously ?) in return for...
Read moreI really enjoyed my stay at The Mont. Firstly, there are a variety of facilities like the gym, meeting / studying room, communal kitchen and an entertainment space and these communal spaces are kept very tidy and neat due to the amazing staffs and management. The reception staffs are always so polite, friendly and helpful - like Rozalia and many others - and theyâll always answer any queries you may have. They also often host events that allow residents to socialize with other and often have free food and drinks available in the lobby. The only problems I have is that the heater in the room is not very warm or helpful, perhaps due to energy saving purposes and it being so far away from the bed and table, so I recommend people to wear more layers in their room. Itâs not that big of a problem though because the lobby is always warm and so you can just spend more time in the communal spaces if you feel really cold. The other problem is the wifi (which I didnât have a problem with until June) that seems to be struggling a bit more and disconnects a lot but towards the end of August, I noticed they are already changing into private network so it shouldnât be a problem! Overall, I really recommend this accommodation and want to thank the staffs for the...

It feels like the accommodation was opened a year too early. It was never advertised that the building and its surroundings were still under construction. The move-in process was dreadful; I had to stay in a hotel for the first few weeks, which was extremely inconvenient.
The Wi-Fi, which was promised to be "super fast," was anything but. I found myself relying on my phoneâs 4G throughout the entire year because I couldnât get a stable signal in my room.
When I tried to do my coursework, I was constantly disturbed by loud construction noise right outside my window. To make matters worse, the fire alarm would go off frequently, often multiple times during the night, disrupting my sleep and adding to the stress.
One positive aspect of my experience at the Mont was the staff. They were very kind and helpful.
Overall, my time at IQ/Downing Students was very stressful and not worth the...
