I shortlisted a selection of estate agents in Coventry to list my property. I was searching for an agent who took the time to listen to my needs, provide a realistic valuation based on evidence and a marketing strategy that would ensure a sale and of course a fair fee. Throughout the selected estate agents, I was impressed by the Valuer representing Shortland Horne. He ticked all the boxes that I was looking for and gave me confidence to instruct them as my agent. The sales team generated multiple viewings with buyers in proceedable positions and conducted the viewings. The negotiations with my sale was handled well. My sale collapsed for reasons out of my control and Shortland Horne reactivated a sale with a new buyer very quickly.

The after sales is the most significant part in any property sale. The service here was incredible. I was dealing with Linda Collins. Linda is very approachable and carried the sale smoothly to completion (during this pandemic!). Linda was clear, concise and informative. She was sympathetic when I lost my initial sale and dealt with the re-negotiations on my second sale skilfully with a happy outcome. She dealt with all Solicitors involved, Financial Advisors and Surveyors to keep the sale together and gave me regular updates. Her 30+ years of experience and passion really shone through. We’ve had an awful experience listing our house for sale with Shorthand and Horne and would strongly advise others to think twice before using them. After some initial interest, we’ve had zero viewings for over eight weeks. Communication has been virtually nonexistent, despite repeatedly asking for weekly updates, no one bothered to call us back. They suggested reducing the price of our house via email and claimed they’d monitor the situation when I called for an update, but we’ve were met with complete radio silence.

There has been no effort to market our property and no meaningful follow-up from early viewings just a total lack of professionalism. It honestly feels like once they got us to sign their contract and agree to commission they completely lost interest in actually doing their job.

They can blame the market if they want but our house was listed in February before the new stamp duty rules kicked in.

We now regret ever listing our house with them. We’re stuck in a contract with no end in sight, and their poor service has only added to the stress of trying to move. Be extremely cautious and read the small print because once you're in, you're...
