Escape the Cell - Brighton's Great Escape Room — Attraction in Great Britain

Sadly we have had to rate this 1 star - this is from a seasoned escape room pro and 4 first-timers. We went on Saturday 15th June, 2:45pm, 4 ladies and 1 man.

I’ve bullet pointed the issues: 40 minutes not 60 minutes in the room for the same price that I’ve paid at other rooms Your hands came out dirty, completely black, clearly not cleaned properly It is one room for 90% of the time, so cramped for large parties You cannot see the locks properly to enter the codes as the lighting is horrific, it ruins all the fun. It got to the point that I gave up as I couldn’t see the locks on 2 occasions.

At the end of the game the guy did say did we enjoy it, and not wanting to ruin my friends 40th we smiled and agreed politely, but in reality this wasn’t the truth. I should’ve said something.

I’m sad to write this review as it’s put a downer on my friend’s 40th. In addition, I know local businesses build their reputation on these reviews, but in this case I had no alternative but...

Unfortunately the 3 escape rooms here just haven't been thought through or vetted for mistakes. Escape the vault is the closest room to compare to an actual escape room experience to. Escape the cell had clues that were set up to give you the wrong answer to open the intended lock. And i believe the 90s one should be decommisioned until they have the coding sorted if they are going to use whatsapp instead of a games master to run the clues and pace of the game. Especially when the instructions coming through are a mixture of 2 games. And when you do get a clue again its giving you incorrect info like 3 digit number when its a 4 number padlock!

The games host was lovely enough but was more there just to open the rooms i feel than be a games master.

A group of us decided to try and "Escape the Cell" for a friends birthday, and honestly we were about 3 mins away from being trapped forever... As seasoned escapers, it challenged us with really great clues and hidden messages and we really really enjoyed it! The team were really lovely, excellent communication and help before and during.

I have to mention also that the whole experience is a good one in Presuming Ed's - we had a coffee before, gathered everyone together, were carted off to the room to start the escape and then cocktails after! So definitely one to recommend if you are planning an event. I've done another in Brighton which was good, but you literally had to get in/out straight away so it can feel quite rushed.

All in all, definitely 100% recommend,...
