The Abbey itself must have been spectacular in its day, but greedy Henry VIII made sure he stripped it bare during the dissolution of the monastries. Back in the day monastries and churches must have been looked on with envious eyes, none more envious than Henry VIII. The Hospitium remains in the gardens, now being used as a venue for all sorts.
