I have done the plague room and the witches room and I have loeved both! Plague room - we got to know some of the history and a video of a scenario and what the aim of the escape room. There was a good range of puzzles, some of which were rather clever. They were good and reading when we needed a clue so we weren't standing around wasting time as well so it gives everyone a good chance to escape! Witches room - we has a scenario in this one and we got to watch a video to learn more about the history and the gamesroom master dressed as a witch and carried out the scenario which is a fun little extra I haven't seen in other escapes rooms. Another thing that was the step further wasn't their was a mistake on my banks end and I was charged, I would like to emphaize that this wasn't the Escape rooms' fault it was an error with my bank. When I contacted them, they got back to me straight away to let me know they only recieveed it once and went out of their way to check other places while I contacted my bank and were very transparent which made the process really easy and I really appreciate that. I would highly recommend it and will hopfully be back to complete the other room and maybe the same rooms again in a couple years when I have forgotten...

My team did the Witch Room and it was so much fun. The puzzles were well thought out and placed, the rooms were themed really well. We did need a few hints thrown our way and with those we managed to escape.
None of the puzzles were overly difficult to solve once the correct clues had been found, but just hard enough that we had to actually stop and think. Those moments really showed how well designed the puzzles are and how they're linked together throughout the experience.
The room being located near the site of some historically significant periods of history in Newcastle made the story even better. While some fiction was thrown in for obvious reasons (it's an Escape Room not a museum!) the links to local history of witch trials and the plague pit nearby made it all the more interesting.
Jack was our Game Master and he's amazing at his job. Not only getting into character for the room and giving us helpful nudges and making it more immersive, but also before and after the experience he was funny, welcoming and talked about horror movies which was a bonus!
A must do for all visitors and locals who like Escape Rooms, themed experiences, history and witches!
Extremely good value. Will be back to do the...
Read moreWe escaped the Armageddon room and had an amazing time doing it! I’ve done a few escape rooms but this one was easily the best yet. Martin (I think that’s his name!) has put so much effort into making the escape rooms really good, loads of different kinds of puzzles, clues, hints, interactive steps and some totally out of the box ways of hiding clues etc. Before we started, there was even a video about the mission to get us into the mindset of the role which was really fun and unique.
The recommended group is 2-6 people but we had 7 in our group, so he added a puzzle for us so that it wasn’t “too easy”.
We escaped in around 45 minutes and it was worth every penny! I strongly recommend trying The Escape Key if you want to do an Escape Room in Newcastle. Thank you so much for an awesome experience and for letting us save the world! 5*
EDIT: I went back a second time to do the “Plague” room and it was even better! Have never been to a better escape room - totally didn’t think I’d ever have a better experience than the Armageddon but the Plague...
