We went Friday 5 August for their 90s/00s rewind and all 7 of us won't be going back.
The positives: The music was fun The decorations were really good.
And that's all I can say for the positives..
The negatives are a plenty.. Let's start with the £1 deposit for a plastic cup... Great in theory however, so little bar stuff last night to keep up with the amount of people in the venue, no way was anyone going to wait until the end of the night or stand at the bar if they left early just to get a £1 refund... Not sure either how it's more eco friendly than glass.. if you're trying to be eco friendly would you not buy bamboo cups? The plastic will still end up in landfill..
Toilets... not enough and not in a good state at all... the queue for the women's was phenomenal and was worse than any club or even massive gig at London stadium... And this gets me onto the issue with the security... Women were going into the men's bathroom but we're literally standing in the middle of the floor and just squatting down to pee... Then there were a few standing in the toilets and jeering at the men whilst using the urinal... One of the girls was peering over and giving them a rating...
The security could see the women going into the men's bathroom and even when some of the men complained did nothing! And this is truly why I'll never go back as the security did not care about anything...
They were walking around the venue with women literally on the dance floor with their hands up their skirts or down their shorts.
There was a man and a woman at one point laying down wrapped around each other on the flamingo float on the dance floor, definitely not just kissing...
Another flamingo float was being used as a slide device on the floor on the raised platform. And people were getting knocked into when stood at a table or trying to get to the bathroom. Again security walked past and did nothing, even though the venue would be liable if someone got injured which was a high possibility.
Bar stuff were going around collecting plastic cups and ignored us when we said to leave 1 they picked up as it was our friends who was in line for the bathroom. which they didn't use due to women in the men's bathroom making jokes about looking at the male genitalia and laughing at it.. double standards as if this was the other way around it wouldn't be stood for.
We promptly left after this as getting to the bar for a drink was impossible, women's queue for the bathroom was a ridiculous wait and the men's bathroomswas full of women harrassing men and the security weren't...
Read moreLast Saturday we had our wedding reception at the Gaiety Bar. We booked it several months ago and, from start to finish, Jack and Trevor were very attentative to us at all times. We had no issues at all, the suggestions that they made to us to ensure our day was perfect, were spot on. From the minute we arrived at the pier after the ceremony, it was fantastic. The Christmas decorations made it even better, a real Christmas wedding! The meal, fish, chips and peas went down a great, cooked to perfection. The kids loved their chicken nuggets and chips and the ice cream machine was a real hit to one and all! The service provided by all the staff was first class, Trevor Master of Ceremonies, ensured that the whole day ran smoothly. He was extremely attentative to, not only us, but to all the guests that were present. The photo booth was constantly being used and there was many a laugh in there from our guests. The DJ provided some excellent dancing tunes to complement our playlist. I have to say, my new wife and I, would recommend this venue to anyone, in fact we have already. Sometimes after an event you look back and say” What could have been better?” We can honestly say that our day could not have been better, a real day to remember. To Trevor, Jack and all the Gaiety Bar team, thank you for making our wedding so memorable, it was brilliant!! Gary and...
Read moreWent here for a SKA night on 4th July. The music was great the band outstanding. The venue not so great, the security staff totally out of order. They made an example of my partner and I, as we all know there are still Covid-19 restrictions in place rightly so. My partner was told to sit down after trying to dance in our own little area, which he did after a bit of a conversation with the man supposedly security. He then decided to get my partner in a headlock and drag him to the floor and across the floor in this headlock causing carpet burns to his arm. My partner has cancer and is currently undergoing treatment after losing his brother ti a similar cancer 9 months ago. This was the first time out in 12 months or more, we know no dancing was allowed but there were others dancing too, why single my partner and drag him across the floor at least 20 foot!!! Disgusting behaviour I am so very angry and upset and it ruined what was a perfect night. Don't use this venue for anything when they employ such bullying tactics and assault their customers with...
