Aside from the funfair opposite, this is my favourite thing to do at Clarence Pier, although this minigolf course operated by the Southsea Island Leisure arcade next door.
There are two different sections, each with nine holes to try and score a hole-in-one. One of them has an indoor section which is pretty fascinating (especially if you want to keep dry from the rain!) while some have harder obstacles. There's lots of water as well, some areas where you might get a bit wet on anyway! (and very rarely, hitting your golf ball hard to the point it accidentally falls into the water)
While you can only choose one of the sections within a single payment, you could have a chance to play another game for free by trying to set the cannon off by hitting the "win" hole in the bonus game section next to the entrance, which I have never been able to do so.
This is a nice minigolf course that makes for a fun day out...

Unfortunately, as far as the course design is concerned the layout of each hole seems to form extremely annoying traps for the ball, e.g. right up against the edge such that it's impossible to move the ball away from the kerb without skirting around the perimeter or pushing it away with your putter. Some would say this is a normal crazy golf experience but there are better ones without such severe trapping. £5.50 for 9 of these holes is just a bit too much.
Still, if you're out in the area and your putting hands are itchy, it's worth a go. Staff are pleasant, the equipment is in good order and the course is...
Read moreI can't think of a single combination of friends, family, acquaintances, colleagues, etc, that I wouldn't bring here and have a great time. One of the courses is definitely more exciting than the other (if only I could remember their names) but neither is bad. They do a student discount, and there's a little game at the end where you can occasionally win a free game etc. Lovely way to round out a day at the arcade. It can get fairly busy on warm weekends and it doesn't seem like they pay particular notice to how many people they let in. This is a slightly frustrating given how little space there is between holes for groups to wait, so build ups can be awkward and close-quarters, but in my experience this...
