Kankku — Attraction in Windermere

Well what can I say…. We’re now unwinding in Bowness after a day out with the guys from Kankku.

The day was a birthday present for my husband from close family, with myself and mum tagging along for the (bumpy) ride.

We’d arrived a little early to ensure we could get our own car parked and to allow time for the paperwork to be completed.

We were asked about any previous experience we’d had in off roading. We were assured that help was always on hand which, being a complete novice did reassure us.

The weather on the day was outstanding after a few days of that wet stuff. The instructions given in the route were clear and we rarely lost sight of the lead car as we weaved through the initial busy traffic, no mean feat, given we were fourth in a five car convoy!

The full route for the day included some roads we’d driven on in recent days in our own lazy car with auto everything, but driving these roads in the Land Rovers was certainly more challenging! The short road sections joined up several off road tracks.

The cars themselves were very capable machines and I’m sure with a better driver could achieve far more than we’d covered today! That said, the route we drove included several tracks which certainly tested the driver’s skills far more than the cars! Some of the climbs would certainly have had us gasping for breathe had we been walking, and the cars made easy work of them! The scenery was spectacular, and even Blackpool tower could be seen in the distance at one point.

The guidance on the more technical sections was given clearly and firmly over the radios, which we had no issue given the potential for damage, be it to the vehicles, the stone walls, gates and fences along the way. Above all our safety was top of agenda in order to ensure we had a good experience.

The whole day was a credit to the Kankku team and it was clear that they take care not to cause any damage to the area. Myles and Nick were both very approachable and there if you had any issues.

Years ago as a young Scout, I was taught: take nothing but memories, and leave nothing behind but footprints. Today however, we left behind a few wet tyre tracks along the stone bridleway, and many memories will be taken away with us.

We would wholeheartedly recommend Kankku for anyone looking to have a hands...

Our team had a remarkable experience and is thankful for the great time we shared together.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Kankku is the ultimate off-road experience. The knowledgeable and friendly staff made us feel welcome and ensured that we were well-prepared for the adventure ahead. The specially prepared Land Rover vehicles showcased their capability on the rugged terrains of the Lake District.

The expertise and professionalism of the Kankku team truly stood out. Their commitment to preserving and protecting the historic trails and the environment was evident throughout our journey. We were impressed by their intelligent driving techniques, which allowed us to explore the magnificent landscape without causing any harm.

Our entire team thoroughly enjoyed the off-road adventure. The thrill of driving our own 4x4 vehicles and venturing off the beaten track was an experience like no other. The views were breathtaking, and the weather was perfect.

The entire day exceeded our expectations, and we can confidently say that everyone loved it including the stop-off at The Terrace for a welcomed break, the food served was nothing short of fabulous.

Three of us went on an off-road experience with Kannku yesterday in the Lake District. We chose the two-hour Technical, and Louis guided us to the first trail. Suffice to say we had a fantastic time! We all benefitted from Louis's excellent input; he was very sensitive to our slightly different capabilities, and carefully instructed us in a very calm, friendly and professional manner. Two of us are retired teachers, and we very much admired his teaching skills. We all came back very happy and 'buzzing' (over and above the buzzing caused by the diesel engine!). All three of us highly recommend Kannku for anyone interested in this type of experience. We are all experienced drivers, but novices as far as off-roading is concerned.
