Mr. Bulky's Foods — Attraction in Akron

I love Mr Bulky's! This has always been one of my favorite stores since I got my first babysitting job! I would walk up to the Plaza at Chapel Hill and check out what I might want to buy for school. New clothes? New purse? Perfume? Jewelry? CANDY! CHOCOLATE! JELLY BELLIES! GUMMY BEARS! Look at all these spices and teas. How would I cook with this? I wonder what this tea tastes like? Maybe I remember Necco Wafers, idk, but they're candy, and I'll try them! What's a chocolate covered espresso bean? Oh wait, these are better than my coffee addiction. They're STILL one of my favorite chocolates. I was so excited because I didn't have to walk all the way to the mall anymore, even though I frequently did. But I ALWAYS had to stop at Mr Bulky's for during my outing and enough candy to share with my friends at school, and maybe share at home. It was a good thing I liked to babysit. My niece and nephew liked Mr. Bulky's, too, and so does my nephew's daughter, Ruby. I told her that I would get her some chocolate covered pretzels for her for her birthday. 6 is an important birthday. Of course, I'll have to get something for her dad, too, and something for me. Who doesn't love candy? Or tea? Or novelty items? Such a fun store for kids...

It's a long drive and I hadn't been there in awhile. Read the reviews before going and was expecting some rudeness in the staff but that it would be worth it because this place always had candies and spices I just haven't found anywhere else.

When I walked in I asked for an item and the lady at the register didn't just tell me where it was, she walked me to the back of the store and pointed it out to me. As I continued to shop, several staff members asked if I needed help. I asked if I could try one of the sesame sticks and the lady said, "Sure. Just use the scoop to pour it into your hand."

The store wasn't busy. Maybe, I thought it, the good service was because they had nothing better to do. But I went back a week later and this time they were busy. In spite of this, when I had a question it was promptly answered and when I couldn't find something, I was taken to it.

Mr. Bulky is the most amazing store! Aisle,after aisle, of your favorite candies from childhood, Jelly Belly Beans, fresh spices from around the world, different flours for baking, candy sprinkles and cake decorating items! Delicious chocolates for candy making, and they carry my favorite melting discs, Merkins chocolate! it makes the most amazing candy! Seasonal and every day candy molds and every thing you need to make candy. Everything is fresh and the store is super clean. They have taken great care to assure everyone is safe during this pandemic. You must wear a mask, and the scoops are washed and sanitized daily, there are clean scoops, and a place to put your dirty scoop in a bin after you use it.
