Me and my fiancé started a wish list a few months back. Since COVID has everything going hectic, my fiancé decided to order my ring online and have it shipped. It got lost in the mail (not Jared’s fault). Nonetheless they said our money wouldn’t be refunded until the ring made it back to their store in New York. since that happened I was talking back and forth with them, and they said they have my ring in my size in store. So why not go get them both at the same time? When we sit down to pay and hash out the details, the price comes out higher than what we were told by 2 grand. Still haven’t got an explanation as to why the price jumped when I had the exact amount they originally told me it would be. That includes taxes, fees, and a lifetime protection program. So now, because I couldn’t pay the full amount i was gonna finance it. Financing takes me up 4 grand extra than what the ring costs. So instead I choose to be prudent and not let them rip me off, because why would I pay so much extra when I’m only short the cash because the money from the other ring didn’t get refunded, and they won’t accept any down payment except what the lease agreement states. But, wait... it gets better. Being that our wedding is only a few weeks away, I choose to buy my ring in store still so that we don’t screw up and not have either. The next day I talk to a buddy and go to his families jewelry shop. He gets me both the same exact rings for even cheaper than it would be at Jared’s if I bought it outright. Naturally I wanna get my money back for the ring I bought in store so I go to return it. This is literally not even a full 24 hours after the purchase. They state that they can’t refund this ring either because they don’t keep cash in the store. So now I’m out money for both rings until they decide/get enough cash to refund either/both transactions. The whole ordeal was shady, and just flat-out...
Read moreMy fiancé purchased my ring for me JUST over a year ago, a year and three months I’ve had my ring and my ring has not been in my possession these last 3 months due to poor quality and repairs by both James Allen’s Partner “Jared” and even more disappointing service by the ring manufacturer themselves. My ring lost a diamond just at a year which left me upset but understanding that can may be happen (although it shouldn’t happen on a year old diamond ring). I took it in to Jared thinking they’re a reputable jeweler and partner of whom my fiancé purchased my ring from so they can fix it right? WRONG. They repaired it not once, twice but THREE times and did it incorrect all three times, charged my fiancé $200, the third time they built up prongs without asking permission and proceeded to damage another diamond on the band that wasn’t damaged when we walked in. They damaged my ring so badly it couldn’t be repaired by James Allen and they weren’t authorized to do so per the email I have from their partner. I finally send my ring back to the company in hopes everything will be done correctly and I’ll have no more issues, wrong again. So, 3 months later and my wedding approaching and I’m still without my ring due to unauthorized, shoddy work by Jared and poor quality by James Allen. Absolutely maddening and frustrating to say the least. If you’re a soon to be bride or groom I do not recommend either company for repairs...
Read moreYour lab made two rings for us using my grandmother's stones. My grandmother is gone now so the stones are meaningful. My mothers ring was made using her mother's emeralds. After about a week, an emerald fell out of her ring. It was replaced with a new emerald, and a few weeks later another emerald fell out. It was also replaced, but those are two of my grandmother's emeralds gone forever. After this happened, it made my fiancé and I nervous about her engagement ring which was made from my grandmother's diamonds. We checked just with our fingers and could feel a diamond moving within the setting. When we took it in for the 6 month check up, we didn't say anything about the loose diamond. The Jared employee returned around 30 seconds later and told us the ring was all good. We asked if she was sure, because we swore a diamond was loose. She had the jeweler check it again and sure enough the setting needed tightened. Also, they threatened to void the warranty on our wedding band that has been sitting in a box because we haven't had our wedding yet unless we brought it in for the 6 month check up. That's how little faith they have in the jewelry they make. I'll continue to bring the rings in every 6 months so the warranty doesn't get voided, but Jared will never get another...
