D20 is a comfortable, friendly game shop with some of the most welcoming, kind staff. I've stopped in a few times now to buy cards, check out their events, and just chit-chat if I'm in the neighborhood.

The store carries a comparably large selection of Magic: the Gathering and other TCG products, so if you're looking for older sealed product from years past, definitely give them a call.

Nestled on a busy block in downtown Alameda, D20 makes the best of a modest amount of space, featuring a well-curated counter of Trading Card Game items, a sizable shelf of roleplaying game books, and a handful of recent board game releases, in addition to accommodating tables for events that happen almost every night of the week.

Not sure what other reviewers complaining of price scalping are talking about. In-store TCG singles prices are comparable to other LGSs, and well-manicured—I'm normally able to find almost everything on my list. TCG price grumblers beget grumbles, I suppose.

As mentioned, the staff here are incredibly welcoming, helpful, and kind—notably they are patient with kids, especially younger children who are there for events. Everyone I have had the joy to talk with has been abundantly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the games they carry, always amiably greeting everyone who walks through the door and answering questions from novices like myself uncondescendingly.

Charming store; charming staff. Go here to get what you need before...

D20 Games is a fantastic game store and my personal favorite in the East Bay. I've been playing Magic: The Gathering at it for 5+ years and I have never had a negative experience. The community is very welcoming, and the store is where I found many of my current friends. I love the owner and the staff; you can tell they really care about both the games that are played at the store and the wellbeing of their patrons. They recently started running Magic: The Gathering RCQs which is super cool! The weekly Magic schedule as of now is Modern Mondays, Commander Tuesdays, Pioneer Thursdays (I think), drafts for FNM, and sealeds every other Saturday. They also do two weeks of events for prerelease and release weekends every time a new set releases. Buying cards and sealed product has always been an easy and convenient experience. They use TCGplayer market pricing for all of their singles, which I think some of the other reviews here might be confused about. The stickered prices don't really mean anything and are just a general guideline for when they were initially put into stock. You can also sell cards here for 60-70% of its TCGplayer market value depending on how in-demand that particular card is. I'm very glad that I found this wonderful spot all those years ago and I highly recommend that you...

D20 is the best LGS I have ever been to. Recently I moved here from Arizona and my experiences there have been neutral leaning negative to hostile and unfriendly. D20 games is the complete opposite. I love to come draft here every Friday and it feels like I am appreciated here. The work done to foster this community is respectable and enjoyable and it feels like the people working here care for the LGS as much as the people do. I have met many new people here and it has made the move here way less lonely. Thank you to Dillon, Emma, and Jake for making this place feel lovely. Will also say selling cards here has felt way better than selling anywhere else I have as well, often I will be told to hold on to cards before selling because the shop is certain on price increase so it feels like the people doing buy-ins both know what they are doing but are up to date on trends...
