If you have but a day, or it's you're first day, or if it's inclement weather.....This is the place to go! The Red Trolley Tour is The Way to see the city, it's environs, get the lay of the land, learn some history, and most importantly, Have Fun!! I decided the 2 hour tour could be better for photos and interaction than the 1 hour drive, and couldn't have made a better decision, or had a better time! Your driver, host, song stylist found a great way to bring her nightclub act on the road...literally! Topic: balance of 200 men for each woman. Your guide let's you know exactly how her gender feels by breaking into song about the lack of personal hygiene by mountain men! A wild and witty one she dives into full voiced, and a great one it is! Then she tells you about the founding of the land by Capt Cook, who was unfortunately named the same as his own fate at the hands of peeved Hawaiians, who also share a love for the 49th state. You see boats, planes, trains, submerged homes, and an earthquake hiding in a beautiful forrest, each with a story. You laugh, you learn, you look for moose. Sorry not to have seen any is brushed aside as she again breaks into a witty ditty about Alaskan roadkill. Then she stops by a riveting mural at a local school, and you learn why you're learning....she taught there! Probably why she's good at keeping us moving on and off the lil' red bus. As she returns us to the starting point, she explains the emotional origins of the beautiful state flag, then launches into her grand finalé, an equally stirring song of the land she so clearly loves. And so will you! Only there for the day, the 2 hour tour went by too quickly, and was The Best decision I could have made!

Nice little tour to take when you come in a day early for your cruise the next day. Not a lot to do in April on a Sunday, most things were closed for the winter anyway. The cost was $50 a person, kinda high for what you got and they didn't offer any Military/Veteran discounts which was disappointing. The tour guide was entertaining and took us around to several areas with a couple of stops for viewing and pics which I've included here. At one stop, we even saw some moose not too far away but I didn't get any pics of them but my wife did. The pickup and drop off was at the Visitor Center downtown and afterwards there were over half a dozen places to eat all within walking distance. We ate at the Sushi place across the street before hand for a quick snack but after the tour, we walked around the corner to Uncle Joe's Pizza place and had THE BEST pizza in a long time. Highly recommend going there if you go downtown. It was better than any pizza back home, something you don't expect to find in Alaska, lol!

A must do when visiting Anchorage! Trolly meets in front of the former visitors center which is a log cabin. The trolly is enclosed and heated. Our tour started on time and was about 1.5 hours long. If it went longer it would be ok because there is so much to learn. Our tour guide, Aaron was amazing. His enthusiasm and local knowledge on local history made the tour. There are several stops along the way and we were able to get out for photo opportunities. Aaron was like an old friend showing us the town. I highly recommend this tour, even as a local it's worth a ride. The highlight of our tour was seeing a bald eagle. Five Stars all the way.

Name of tour: the names of the tour are misleading. The "one hour" is not an hour. It says 50 to 55 minutes in the small print. Ours was 45 minutes so they didn't even get to 50 minutes. They should not name them something they are not. Call them the "diamond tour" and "platinum tour" but putting a time in bold print, a different time in small print, and not meeting either of them makes us feel cheated.

Check in process: easy and painless

Areas covered versus areas advertised: the "one hour" tour yesterday did not take us to the tony Knowles park. I wanted to see that. We also did not go to the overlook part of the city. Instead we ended up going to the tour guide's high school (not interested) and he pointed out his elementary school (still not interested). I don't know if this tour was changed due to wet weather? This is worth $15 not 25.

Comfort on bus: it is advertised as being heated, but the driver was totally oblivious to the temperature on the bus. A passenger opened the window and let in cold air. Finally someone said, "can you turn on the heat". He did, but he should check with the passengers. We should not have to ask out loud in front of everyone.

Info gained: if you have a car, you can do this tour yourself. Just go to the visitors center...

The only thing I really enjoyed was seeing Ted Stevens airport and all those wonderful planes - I was particularly annoyed that we were taken to a gift shop to learn about ULU knives. When I was in Mexico City, I went on a tour to the pyramids and they stopped at a gift shop, As we entered, they offered us free tequila, Indeed, to lower our inhibition, so we would spend more. At least your ULU Store didn’t offer any tequila, sorry to say, I would never recommend the two hour tour. $50. Per person for some Anchorage trivia. I’m sure the earthquake from 1964 was of interest for some people, but I lived in California most of my life and Now live in Seattle where we’re due for “the big one“. It would be good to let your customers know that earthquakes can happen anytime anywhere on earth. Not just fault lines. No doubt the 1964 Anchorage earthquake was very severe. Since I’m only in Anchorage for one day, I would’ve booked (in advance) a nature tour to go where we might see some wildlife out in the country. Your tour crew were wonderful, Sorry for the downer review, but thanks for the opportunity. I hope you have a great success with your...
