Edit: I originally posted this 7 months ago but Google was hiding it for some reason. We were only at Snob Hollow for one night. I booked the Susitna room as a romantic room for us. We were unfortunately really disappointed. The room itself was cozy and clean, but no where did it mention that the private bathroom is actually external to the unit. Obviously having to go out into an amazingly bright hallway is uncomfortable. The original description of this room was dishonest and at $225 pre-tax for the night, this was an upsetting part of our stay. It's a few days after our stay and I see the description has already been updated, so I appreciate the hotel acting upon the feedback quickly. Pros - close distance to train station and some good restaurants nearby - I had requested early check in, so we were able to check in at noon when we arrived in town. - Mandy was very kind in helping us carry our bags upstairs. - Everything was really clean and well-kept. Other cons - Every spot seems to be quite echoey. In the room, you can hear everything going on in the common areas of the home and the detached bathroom. In the hall, you can hear everything going on in rooms you're outside of (on the third floor, that was two rooms and our detached bathroom). - The door of the Susitna seems too small for the frame it sits on. From the bed, you can see the bright hallway light and it kept me awake most of the night. - I had also mentioned in my booking that we will have just gotten married and to let me know if there was anything special, and was sent a follow-up email asking if we preferred alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks. I responded and also got a "awesome, thank you for the info" back. However, when we arrived, there wasn't anything special. Not a huge deal, but it made me feel like they don't necessarily keep all special notes about their bookings. I'm unsure if I would stay here again, but I definitely wouldn't pick the Sustina room if I did.

The property is beautiful. The story of history is interesting. The neighborhood is decent. The place is very clean. Check in and out is very smooth. Locally owned and operated. There are some things, however, to be aware of Before you book:

Parking is very limited (Two spaces for the entire hotel) Please make sure you contact the host if you need parking. We were fortunate and got a space.

There are no elevators. Every room requires you walk your luggage up at least half a flight of concrete stairs. The beds are extremely soft. There is no control in the rooms. Temperature is set at 70° for the entire building and upper floors are warmer. Despite It being less than 50° overnight in September and running a fan both to bring new air in and exhaust existing air from the room. We were unable to budge the temperature lower than 69° after Closing all three vents in the ceiling (I’m tall). The bathroom for our particular room is private, but not attached to the room. The towels are soft and fluffy. They provided bathrobes, which is really nice but do not fit plus sized ladies. I was able to use a towel to make up the substantial gap in the middle. They provide some premium shampoo and conditioner in the shower. The arrangement of the fixture in the bathroom means it is about 4 inches taller than average kitchen sink height. Shorter than 5 foot six will have difficulty using the bathroom sink. The bathroom is fairly spacious. The floors are concrete and have radiant heat. There are many rugs. The floors are not cold. The bedding is very soft as are the pillows, and there is a thick fluffy comforter Should you manage to get cold. The decor is gorgeous and the room has beautiful nearly floor to ceiling windows on two sides. Even with the gorgeous floor to ceiling velvet drapes it’s really difficult to get all the light blocked. Additionally, there’s a good bit of light from around the door from the hallway. You’re used to sleeping in total darkness, This might be a problem. There’s a good bit of nightlife in the area. We were awakened multiple times with people smoking marijuana under our window at the street below. Additionally, we were woken up three more times by trains with whistles, running near the building after midnight. Even with the windows hastily closed Due to people smoking On the street outside, The train whistle was still loud enough to wake us up. Perhaps if you’re from the city or used to more noise, this would not be a problem. Unfortunately, even with two fans running, it still woke us up. It’s obvious that the owners have tried to do all they can to mitigate the constraints of the property and the location. I give the place five stars as it is super posh super nice super clean and the people who own it very nice. I think they mentioned there is an area with coffee and snacks downstairs for people who are staying that is open 24...

A Peaceful Gem in Anchorage – Perfect Stay at Snob Hollow Inn I recently stayed at the Snob Hollow Inn in Anchorage with my 75-year-old mother, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. The photos online are true to life—the place is genuinely gorgeous. We stayed in the Susitna Studio, which was beautifully set up and had a stunning view overlooking Ship Creek. Watching the sun go down from the studio was a real highlight. Booking was a breeze, and Mandy, our host, was superb every step of the way. From the moment we booked to the time we checked out, she was friendly, responsive, and incredibly helpful. We were even allowed to check in early, which was a lovely bonus after our travels. The whole place was clean, quiet, and in a superb location—just a short walk to downtown Anchorage. The Susitna Studio has its own private bathroom just across the corridor, which wasn't an issue at all, especially with the thoughtful addition of dressing gowns provided. One unexpected perk was the kitchen on the lower floor, stocked with yoghurt, fruit, and snacks. In a city as expensive as Anchorage, this was a huge help for breakfast and coffee. Left luggage storage was also available, which made logistics much easier. A special mention goes to Mandy again—she truly went above and beyond. When a travel agent in Sitka was being extremely unhelpful, she actually returned to the inn to assist me in calling and sorting out taxi arrangements for my next destination. She didn’t have to do that, but she did. That kind of personal touch and care speaks volumes about the service standard here. This stay truly didn’t disappoint. My only regret is not being able to stay longer. I honestly can’t say enough great things about this place and its wonderful host. Go and stay—you’ll see exactly...
