David Behrens Gallery — Attraction in Albuquerque

My wife and kids visited David’s gallery last weekend and I have to tell you he is one genuine top notch shop owner. I was greeted with a smile and conversation upon entering his shop. David acknowledged the Grateful Dead I was wearing and that is always a plus in my book. He interacted with all of us and even gave my kids the time of day. It was a totally different vibe from the previous store I was in called the Dragonfly. That lady was rude. He is a great artist by the way. He has a great print of Mount Rushmore with an addition of some American Indians. Thank you David for a great experience in your shop. I loved David's Gallery so much, I came back one more time just to chat and learn more about Albuquerque! (But sadly I missed him. I came just after closing.) He greeted everyone that came in with so much warmth and sincerity. We chatted quite a bit about the artisan community in this town, and he was proud that all the pieces in his store were made by artist he called good friends (many of them north of 60 years old — and I really appreciated his community approach to elevating their artwork and crafts.) Stopped in here with my husband while being a tourist in Old Town - it was definitely worth the time. David is a super kind, down-to-earth dude who is really passionate about the area and the art he creates and curates in his gallery. We found some great pieces to take home - some his own, others from other local artists - and he was kind enough to sign a postcard for us to keep with the pieces we bought. It was definitely one of the highlights...
