WARNING - do NOT pay to stay in the Garden Villas at DLH Anaheim! 💔 I want to warn all my Disney Fans about our recent trip at the DLH. The Villas are currently NOT worth it due to electrical issues. During our recent stay in room #0251 (Deluxe Garden Villa) from 9/16/24 - 9/20/24 we did NOT HAVE POWER. We paid $600+ a night and LOST POWER from 1am-5am during 2 of the 3 nights we were there. We were there to celebrate my toddlers 3rd birthday & he didn't even want to be in our hotel room because he was AFRAID of being there due to the power loss and darkness. My mom (65 years old) tripped & fell on the way to the bathroom because we could not see! The first time we lost power (9/18 @ 1am), we weren't even aware it was going to happen. We came home from the park after 1am (since we stayed at the park till after closing it's a very long walk from Disneyland Park to the DLH) and came back to a note with a glowstick taped to it saying we would be "without power due to scheduled maintenance". We had to fumble around the room in the dark and couldn't charge our dead phones to use as flashlights. The provided glow stick was basically useless. The food in the fridge went bad. When I called the front desk they're only response was "you were notified about the maintenance" (as if coming home to a note & a glowstick is considered "notified") and didn't offer any solutions or a different room. They told me most guests also didnt have power, but when I spoke to a maintenance worker he said that only rooms on the 2nd floor of the Discovery Tower were experiencing power outages. The 2nd time we lost power (9/19 @ 130am) we were in our room, watching a movie with my child in bed & we all lights suddenly went out AGAIN. When I called the front desk, they told me we shouldn't be affected (but clearly we were) then put me on hold for 10+ min. When my toddlers started crying because he was afraid of dark & kept trying to leave the hotel room, I decided to walk down to the front desk with my child. To be honest, I was livid. I couldn't find the ridiculously hard to locate front desk and packed my toddlers around the resort at 2am trying to find someone to speak to. Eventually, they did offer us a different room, but it was our last night there & it was in an entirely different tower. So to move rooms were would have to pack in the dark, then relocate to an entirely different area. We are night people. I work nights at a hospital in a trauma center/emergency room. 1am-5am normally would be the time when most guests are sleeping, but for us that time frame is when we're awake & spending time together. If I was aware and notified of the "scheduled maintenance" at the time of check in i would have chosen a different room. I worked VERY hard to save money & be able to afford this trip. I'm a single mother & quite frankly worked my butt off so my toddler could experience the "magic" for his birthday. But apparently DLH version of a "magical stay" involves using a glowstick to see in your room. Besides the power issue, we had several other complaints about the Villas. The water never got hot or cold. We took slightly warm showers & brushed our teeth with warm water. The wifi didn't work near our room. Its like a 5 min walk to get to the ice machine from our room. They didn't bring our luggage for hours after checking in. House keeping didn't clean our room until we complained about it. The only options for the TV are to either watch a few basic cable channels or use a QR code to connect your phone/device to stream & mirror your own Disney+ account on the TV. Wouldn't you think a company that makes a revenue of 17+ million dollars A DAY would provide you with in-room disney+ for free?? And since the wifi didn't work we couldn't even connect to the TV most of our stay. After talking to customer service multiple times, they finally did credit us $400 but our bill was still almost $2k (for 3 nights) I just wanted my toddler to have an extra magical time for his birthday, not spend $2k on a glowstick

This place has something against my Service dog. I worked there for 15 years under John Caton VIP for security communication, etc.. I come here often . Year’s ago we had a problem because of my Service dogs so we resolved it. six months ago again had the problem but instead of dealing with it. I just turn around and left. I sent Complain the Complain five times was ignored so we send it to the government hope they do something Anyway This time I have finished my trip. I was on my way out when this Karen “KAREN woke” saw the dog start tuning the dog, so dogs are dogs. There are not mute. The service dog didn’t like it and told me about it. She came and she said we do not allow dogs at Disneyland Park excuse me this is not Disneyland Park. This is a service dog showing the tag and license and she starting with all the question. I said you know what Get away from me. You are nasty. I can sue you for harassment. She came and hit my dog on the face trying to make him bite her or something. I don’t know she just taunting and then I said I’m gonna suit you! stop harassing me go away. I’m doing my job and I’m gonna follow you everywhere. all day long well I am gonna report you and you’re gonna lose your job because this is harassment she said You can’t suit me you will suit Disneyland not me. And she came and hit me with her body on my arm she was just trying to get a fight then she start dancing like she was gonna box me with her hands up and making the steps and her feet. I just turn around and tried to get away. She did this nasty! in front of all the guest. she was just criminal . So I went on my way and she kept following me and taunting my dog. I said you know I am going to report. I went to report her, but it took him half an hour to come that Magic its gone magic way too.Woke the happy place on earth it’s gone. and they don’t even care. Is that why their shares never go up I hope this time Disneyland fire the woman because every person or security. I told what just happened They said oh yes, she is like something you stepped on with ridged soles. Nobody likes her, and she still there I’m sure John Caton wouldn’t not looked away and will not let this behavior Defund the Disney Security!!!

If the budget allows, we highly recommend staying at the Discovery Tower Villas at the Disneyland Hotel. We have stayed at the DL hotel in the traditional rooms previously, and while the location of the hotel is second to none no matter which tower you stay at, this newest addition to the hotel has elevated the Disney experience to a new level! The room was spacious (we stayed in a deluxe studio) relative to the 2-Queen rooms in the older towers. The hidden Murphy bed was easy to bring down and surprisingly comfortable for a non-standard bed, the mini-fridge was actually cold, and there were all sorts of storage areas to stash our belongings and bags. The mini-kitchenette came equipped with mugs, cutlery, and dishware, and there was even a toaster (that we didn’t use). And the flooring - not carpet! I believe it’s some kind of laminate, which I find to be way more hygienic and easier to keep clean. The walk-in shower was magical; it had both a rainshower head mounted on the ceiling, as well as a detachable and adjustable shower head on the wall, and there was a built in “bench” inside the shower too! Easily one of my favourite parts of the room! The toilet area also had its own sliding door so that you could have someone using the sink while someone else used the toilet. The only drawbacks were that storage in the bathroom was limited, so our counter space (which wasn’t huge to begin with) got cluttered quickly, and the soap and shampoo were wall-mounted (so no more freebie souvenir toiletries to bring home!). The location was a bit further from the entrance to downtown Disney, which matters if you have travellers who have mobility challenges, but the Villas provided quick access to the pools and to the Palm Breeze Bar, which was nice. The walk to downtown Disney was also gorgeously landscaped, so we didn’t mind the extra steps. Service was Disney-level quality, so we expected and received what we paid for. Daily housekeeping was thorough and the rooms were immaculate. Now that we have tasted the excellence of the Villas, we will absolutely splurge on these rooms again!

As a Magic Keyholder and a Disney shareholder, I fully understand the magic behind everything Disney tries. The Disneyland hotel is probably so old the magic left and no one informed the company. I've stayed on multiple properties and for the money, I expected more. When I stayed at the California Grand I felt like I got my monies worth and it's the most expensive Disney property. The Disneyland hotel is #2 in price but feels like it should be competing with the hotels just off property. The room was basic for a premium view room. Premium is not the room quality, just the view and it was facing the pool, not the park. Beds were okay but Ive had better nights sleep across the street at the Hilton, Castle Inn, and Hyatt House. I asked for a late check out and got "sorry, not with that room type" which seemed to be a theme. I asked several questions and many of the answers were "not with that room" making it ever so clear, that while you paid 3x more on a room, you were still considered lower class here. "Can I upgrade to club level?" Not with my room type. Let's be clear - I was paying over $600 a night for the room. Bathroom ceiling had broken tiles on the roof, water pressure was little more than a trickle and temperature varied by the minute. Comparing this to my stays in the area, I would expect the price to be significantly less. There is the easy access to Downtown Disney but it shares security with the main parking lots so your extra 30 minutes in the park is really 15 if you make it down by 6:45am. The walk though is pretty far compared to the hotels across the street unless you wait for the monorail which doesn't seem to start until 7:20. The pool and restaurants here are nice but seating is very limited. All in all, if you don't mind overpaying to feel poor at a high end hotel, then I would say you found your place. However, for 1/3 the cost, I would highly recommend staying at a property across the street. Many of the like Courtyard have pools and slides comparable to Disneyland Hotel.
