Six of us went to Centrico on Sunday afternoon and had a horrible time. We were warned when we sat down that they were still in the middle of their soft opening so things might take a little longer than normal. We were all fine with that, however we were not expecting the rest. We all sat down and all of us ordered cocktails. My classic margarita tasted fine, however it was a little watered down. I think it sat somewhere for a while before they brought it out. My wife ordered a peligrino which took an hour before they brought it to the table. We also ordered the chips and salsa. The salsa tasted fine; however, it is more of a chipotle style sauce rather than a salsa, the chips on the other hand were very thick and very stale. We were told they were made fresh throughout the day, however they must leave them out in the open air before serving them. We also ordered the guacamole with the pork belly add-on ($20.00), when it arrived it was a smaller portion of guacamole and the pork belly was just 4 to 6 small 1 cm cubes placed on top. We all thought they were tomatoes. Nothing special and not worth the extra $4.00.
The other appetizer we ordered was the Cochinita Rillettes (Braised pork with mango habernaro salsa with toasted bread). The taste was OK, however on the second bite we found a LARGE thin chicken bone. At least we all think it was a chicken bone (Can’t imagine what part of the pig it would have come from). We called the server over to show and she quickly took it over to a manager. When she returned, she told us a manager would come over to discuss. We ordered our meals and waited. After about 30 more minutes our food arrived (I ordered the burrito norteno and it was was delicious). The waitress again told us that a manager would be coming to discuss the bone. After we finished our meals the check came and no manager. Someone (Not a manager) did come over and asked us how our meal was and I explained the bone issue and lack of manager. He quickly went over to a manager and explained the situation however no one ever showed up. We paid our bill (Split three ways with cards) and began to leave. I did see another manager who had just arrived and spoke with him to explain our experience. He seemed very concerned and offered to cover our bill. I explained that we had already paid. I told him the issue we were upset about was with the fact that managers had been told on three separate occasions that we had an issue an never bothered to ever come by the table even though we were told three separate times that they would.
The manager did invite us back and said he would take care of us; however, first impressions are very important to us. We don’t mind a restaurant having issues, especially during a soft opening, however the lack of caring about our concerns is unacceptable.
To top everything off the restaurant charged one of our party 3 times.
Our bill for all 6 of us including tip was around $340.00. Don’t know if we will...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews, but after losing over $100 on a disappointing dinner for my wife’s 32nd birthday, I feel compelled to warn others. This experience was far from the special occasion we hoped for. While I’m not a “snob” foodie, I do have experience in fine dining, and even when I have a bad experience, I usually keep quiet. But this time, I have to speak up. The food was subpar, and Disneyland should seriously consider auditing their vendors because an experience like this could drive loyal customers away. We visited on March 30, 2025, at 6:30 pm during a busy period. The restaurant clearly relies on its location within Disneyland, where it seems to rest on its laurels, knowing tourists will flock in regardless of quality. We ordered three items: 1. Huarache de Asada (a highlighted special) 2. Chicken Mole Tacos (also a special) 3. Ceviche Cocktail (appetizer) The food came out quickly—both the appetizer and entrees arrived at the same time, just 8 minutes after ordering.
Food Reviews: Huarache de Asada ($25): A huge disappointment. The food was clearly made hours earlier. The corn flatbread was dry, the black bean purée was crusty, and the spinach was soggy. The steak was bland and tough, and the sauce was like a flavorless marinara cream. I had to drown it in salsa to make it edible, but even then, I couldn’t finish it. Chicken Mole Tacos ($25): The chicken was dry and clearly pre-cooked, while the mole sauce was weak, coagulated, and bland. The taco shells were cold and broke apart easily. The only redeeming part was the pickled onions. Again, this was served room temperature. Ceviche Cocktail: The best thing we had, but still subpar. It was swimming in sauce, making it hard to eat, and the chips were stale and unseasoned. Aftermath: By the end of the meal, I barely ate half of my huarache, and my wife left two out of three tacos. The ceviche was mostly untouched. We were upset that we spent so much money on such a disappointing meal.
Bar Staff: The bartender was polite and apologized when we gave him feedback. He offered to reorder the food, but by that point, we had lost our appetite.
Final Thoughts: This place is a chop shop dressed up with a nice exterior. The owners and head chef should be ashamed of the food quality. The kitchen staff is complacent, and the restaurant seems to rely on the fact that most Disneyland visitors won’t leave honest feedback. I’d strongly encourage anyone to avoid this place. Disney, please audit your vendors. Experiences like this can destroy...
Read moreGone are the days of the old Tortilla Joe’s, which was once the go-to spot for Mexican cuisine in Downtown Disney. With the arrival of this new restaurant, a refreshing change has taken place, elevating the dining scene to new heights. This modern Mexican restaurant has become a standout centerpiece in Downtown Disney, undoubtedly one of the area’s crown jewels. After the disappointing renovation of Jazz Kitchen, this place has quickly risen to the top of my list.
The restaurant exudes an authentic Caribbean-Southern American style atmosphere, making it not only a place to eat but an experience in itself. The ambiance is warm, inviting, and vibrant, perfectly complementing the high-quality food that follows. The food was delivered with impressive speed, yet it didn’t sacrifice an ounce of flavor or freshness. The chips were perfectly crunchy and fresh, and the salsa—while tasty—left me wishing for a few more options. A variety of salsas, perhaps with different consistencies, would make the experience even more dynamic.
We started with a classic Old Fashioned, which didn’t disappoint. The drink was crafted well with great flavor and a generous pour, setting the tone for the rest of the meal. For the main course, we opted for the Carne Asada tacos. The sirloin steak was perfectly seasoned and tender, paired with the perfect balance of onions and cilantro, all wrapped in a soft flour tortilla. The Burrito Norteño was another standout, packed with flavorful braised beef, crispy Mexican cheese, pinto beans, rice, sour cream, avocado, and queso fresco, all encased in a perfectly grilled flour tortilla. Both dishes were packed with vibrant flavors, fresh ingredients, and plenty of heart.
What really made this dining experience shine, however, was the service. Our server, Bernardo, went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic meal. He was attentive, friendly, and exuded a pleasant, upbeat personality that made us feel right at home. The wait time was around 20 minutes, which, given the busy nature of the location, felt reasonable and worth it.
While the pricing is on the higher end—something to be expected from a tourist-driven area like Downtown Disney—this restaurant offers quality and service that justifies the cost. Whether you’re visiting the Disney parks or simply enjoying Downtown Disney, this is an ideal spot to enjoy flavorful, well-prepared Mexican cuisine in a...
