In january I visited the shop to re-insert my hidden helix jewelry (fresh, from another piercer) that had fallen out in my sleep. When I got there I was told they were unable to re-insert and that they would have to re-pierce it, according to their ā€œprofessionalā€ opinion. It was an extremely painful and lengthy process. I usually have a really high pain tolerance but I assumed this was due to repiercing a fresh piercing. I was then told the service would be free of cost (initial price told to me was 75 usd for a piercing change which is insane) if i left a good review but once my piercer heard that I was a tourist, recommended that I buy a piercing bump solution and saline spray, for which i was grossly overcharged for— (i paid a little over 100$ for SALINE SOLUTION and a piercing bump solution that originally retails for 17 usd). For obvious reasons, I was unable to heal the piercing and had to get it removed probably in the next two weeks. Now, I recently went to another piercer and got my hidden helix redone and was informed that my piercing done by monsters den was an extremely botched job, they gave me a vertical helix instead of a hidden helix, pierced at an angle and the jewelry used for the vertical helix THAT I DID NOT ASK FOR wasn’t appropriate for healing. I urge everyone to NOT trust this place. They scam tourists and I have no idea how they’re licensed. This place may have a 4.9 rating but they do not deserve it and I urge everyone to read the horror stories in some of these 1 star reviews as well.

The experience was great at first but after a few minutes into the tattoo things got a little awkward. Had some previous scars in my arms and the artist all had to ask was " why didn't you go through with it?" (Self inflcting scars). Was kinda a weird question but went on with the tattoo, should have seen the red flag and left while I could. Anyways the tattoo at first looked amazing it was something small and pretty simple considering there was no shading only filling in. Once the tattoo started to heal I noticed several spots that needed to be retouched and Shakey said that he does touch ups only if I come get another tattoo. That's backwards if you ask me since who knows maybe the new one would need a touch up as well thus causing a redundant pattern to always come back for tattoos that need touch ups. Saw him at a show promoting himself and I approached him saying hey you did a tattoo on me trying to support him I tried to show the potential clients his work and he dead ahh walked away like I was nothing. I would never go back nor recommend this place. Mark my words if you want a good artist thats worth the buck go somewhere else. Updating my review: I am content with the professionalism the owner upholds himself and his business. I was offered a fee touch-up to make up for previous mistake and wanted to do right by the business. I appreciate the time he reponeded and was quick to turn my frown upside down. I would definitely reconsider my previous feelings about this shop and its artists. šŸ”„šŸ”„

AVOID!!! YOU WILL GET SCAMMED!! Went in with my cousin to get our belly piercing I gave them a call and they said it was $80 but when we walked in it was $75. I was pleased with this price. Mollie was the piercer who helped us. She showed us different piercings you could upgrade to between $80-$120. I chose a $80 jewelry. Mollie did our belly piercing it was quick What I’m very unhappy with is the price. When I went to pay my total was $170, I thought this was for me and my cousin but it was my total price. Apparently it was $75 for doing the piercing and an additional $80 for the jewelry. This wasn’t clear when she offered the upgrade to us. I asked her how to do the aftercare and she said the ONLY way was to buy their solution they were selling there. The solution I bought was $80. My cousin and I spent $160 on solution together!!! I was too worried at that time about infection so I didn’t think to check online for any. When I got home I saw that CVS sold the exact same for $25, we got ripped off $120!!! I asked them for a refund on the solution and they said they couldn’t for sanitary reasons. I regret getting the piercing since the min I was paying. They scammed us and ripped us off! MAKE SURE YOU ASK THE TOTAL before getting it done and DONT BUY THE SOLUTION ITS A SCAM. It’s not even worth it. It comes with the spray to use and q tips and a soap to wash your hands. I WILL NOT RETURN. I went to sleep pissed off knowing I trusted this place and turns out they ripped me off!!

Reposting with an update. On Monday the ball of my daith piercing broke off. I did go in and was first helped by Molly. I tried to explain it was the original piercing and they had to clamp it in with pliers, it was not a click hoop. She did not listen and suggested a thin hoop. She would not tell me the kind of metal in it, only that all their jewelry was hypoallergenic, and kept insisting I could replace it on my own even though I told her they used clamped it in at my original piercer. She then told me that if they did it, it’d be another 40+.

So I tried, couldn’t get it, and obviously I needed to walk back in.

Another piercer took over, he did not say his name, and he needed to use actual tools to replace it which was painful. Unfortunately the new hoop was still the thin, unspecified metal one which he also reassured would be ok. I should have went with my gut feeling then, but I thought these two were trained professionals.

Over the next two days, my year old piercing started bleeding, developed a keloid, and got infected. The cheek around it went numb too.

I went in on Wednesday, and this time Joey took over. He said that it wasn’t an allergic reaction, and agreed to go back to a titanium hoop. Halfway in he decided right in the middle of the process to switch to a large bar that did not fit. I didn’t have time to ask about it since the whole process was painful, again, and he did not ask only said he was going to use a bar instead. Because of this I didn’t catch it in time, and only after installing did he say that this would help heal it. And it was a better option overall. This was also followed with a sales pitch of a ā€˜free upgrade’ for the metal, and that this wouldn’t be charged on me again.

The issue is that again, with another careless decision from this team, I now have a piercing that is too big and is blocking my ear canal. I can’t properly clean it. Moving my neck, causes the whole thing to shift because it’s stuck inside my ear canal. Because it’s double the size of my original piercing. Because Joey did all of this without properly consulting or sizing.

Edit: same as before, very obvious they there avoidance here and an unwillingness to actually read the whole review and see what the problem really was. This piercing was healed. It had no problems. They messed up on Monday, caused damage, and then continued to make poor corrections when I went back. I’m pretty sure a piercing is not supposed to get stuck in an ear canal when done properly, lol.

————

Final update: oh boy, it got even better in a horrible way. So had to leave work early due to the pain. Couldn’t smile or talk or even move my neck without the bar being tugged. I went to three different shops to assess the damage. Two were both consultations because they didn’t have a replacement hoop in stock. The final person did.

All three agreed that curved bar in a daith is a stupid idea. All three agreed the bar was too large also; but a smaller would have gotten lost in all the swelling and inflammation this place caused.

And the biggest cause of the inflammation? Shitty piercings, it was a cheap bar they placed in.

All sites quoted me at about 40-65 before a tip. The third site even helped showed me the kind of knock-off piercings that are basically nickel plated with better materials Monster Den is trying to sell as premium. They didn’t sell me a piercing and then tell me it’s be an extra 40 for installing. They didn’t change the plan halfway through without consulting. The person who did fix this managed to do everything almost pain free compared to the pain Joey caused when installing the curved bar.

The relief was immediate. No more pulling on the site, no more sharp stings, and the ache is fading out. I’m hoping monster den didn’t ruin a years worth of healing, and so as a caution don’t depend on these people to be honest, careful, or capable.

Specifically to these two sites, Cleopatra piercings in Costa Mesa and Rainbow piercings in Newport, thank you so much for doing an excellent job. Monster...

I would rate a 0 but I can’t do that so….they are scammers or this one guy at least who pierced me.

I came into the store almost last year and came in to get four piercings. I figured this place was trustworthy because of the good reviews. They told me the prices and it was all around 60-70 dollar max. That sounded very normal so I agreed with all. I was then placed into this room waiting for them to prepare my piercings and as I was getting it pierced I realized my piercer was using the same needle and also using a cork. He couldn’t even put the needle all the way in and struggled with my rook piercing. My ears bled heavily and started to puss badly so he just gave me napkin. I ignored these signs because I was just really excited to get my piercing. I went up to pay and it came up to me around 370 dollars…. That didn’t seem right but since he was almost rushing me I put my card in anyway. There was a tip slide and I accidentally clicked .80 cents and he looked at me and said ā€œreally?!?? 80 cents?!?!ā€ I was uncomfortable at this point and told him it was on accident and he went back for me and told me to tip him. So I did, and this was my fault for tipping him 20 dollars but that was the cheapest option they had on there. I should’ve done custom like before but I was the only person in that room so I just wanted to head out at this point. So in all I paid almost 400 dollars for four piercings…. His coworkers then came out of their rooms and told me to leave them GOOD reviews and that they would really appreciate it. I felt bad since the coworkers seemed nice so I never left a review till almost a year later. It took so long because I’m still bothered by the way they treated me and my piercings still hasn’t healed till this day and it’s been so irritated even when cleaning it everyday. I guess from the same needle they pierced most of my...

Exceptional Experience at Monster Den!

I recently had the pleasure of getting a tattoo at Monster Den on my vacation, and I can't express how thrilled I am with the entire experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warm and welcoming atmosphere created by the fantastic crew: Paul, Angel, and Mollie. Their hospitality truly set the tone for an unforgettable session.

Paul the tattoo artist whose attention to detail and creativity are second to none. He took the time to listen to my ideas and provided invaluable input, ensuring that the design was not only exactly what I envisioned but also a piece of art that I'll cherish forever. His skill and professionalism made the entire process enjoyable and relaxing.

Angel was incredibly helpful from the start, guiding me through the setup and answering all my questions with patience and enthusiasm. He made sure I felt comfortable and well-informed then jump in and help out with a nose pericing for my wife.

Mollie added to the cheerful atmosphere with her infectious energy and kept the mood light during the session while my daughter got her nose peirce. Her friendly conversation made the experience even more enjoyable, turning what could have been a nerve-wracking time for her into a fun and engaging one.

Overall, my visit to Monster Den was nothing short of amazing. The combination of talented artists, great hospitality, and a welcoming environment makes this place stand out. I highly recommend Monster Den to anyone looking for top-notch tattoo services and piercing. Thank you, Paul, Angel, and Mollie, for an incredible experience! I can't wait to come back for my next piece!...
