We stay at Marriott properties exclusively, both for the points and the renowned Marriott quality. This was our first time at a Courtyard property, and we were not disappointed. The downside to Courtyard is no free breakfast, unlike Springhill Suites and Residence Inn. However, I booked a AAA rate with breakfast included for two adults -- which was $10 more per night than without breakfast, so an excellent deal on the whole. Adding on a kid's breakfast for our child was $4.86. The AAA rate wasn't available for the family suite or kids' suite (both of which include bunk beds) when I made our reservation, but after our first night there, Tiffany at the front desk arranged for us to move to a king suite with bunk beds in the living area (a separate room with its own sleeper sofa, microwave, fridge, and separate TV). Our child was thrilled and alternated sleeping and playing in either bunk. The separate room was great when my husband wanted to sleep late. The sliding door with frosted glass gave privacy and blocked some of the bright morning light from our north-facing room. For the Disneyland Resort area on a holiday weekend, I thought the prices were quite reasonable; the Sunday night before Memorial Day was $128 with my AAA discount. The most expensive night was $189, but the average over five nights was $145. Note that there is a $17 nightly charge for parking your car. The breakfast at the Bistro was excellent and large; my omelet with gruyere and bacon was phenomenal, and the spicy ketchup with the seasoned home fries was surprisingly tasty. The child's meal was generous and filling; our kid typically ate only half of it. Marlene and Nicole were very attentive and responsive to food allergy concerns (we have several allergies), and had a welcoming, helpful attitude. I appreciated their attention to detail. However, I wish the Marriott would change its dish detergent; the dishes and flatware had a strong, unpleasant odor every day. Disneyland was about 15 minutes' walk, but we walked to the Toy Story parking lot nearby and took the free Disneyland shuttle to park drop-off. This was particularly welcome after a long day at the parks. The rooms were a nice size, and our location on the top (fourth) floor afforded us a perfect view of the 9:30 p.m. fireworks each night (Room 426). The housekeeping staff was diligent and friendly, and our bathroom and bedrooms were sparkling clean (other than a rogue cobweb in a vent in the main room). I forgot a shower cap and razor, so the front desk immediately gave me two of each. There's a small market with sundries behind the front desk. The lobby is large, and the Bistro's dining area is sizable enough for the breakfast diners who arrive in small waves. The Marriott app has a chat function that allows quick answers to questions and easy ways to request housekeeping or other requests (more pillows, etc.). I wish the bathroom had additional clothing/towel hooks for children and shorter adults. I also wished for an additional shelf or counter for clean clothes, because if you're using the sink/vanity for toiletries, there's no extra space for your pajamas while you shower. A restroom near the pool would also be welcome. Most of my interaction with the front desk included Tiffany or Cesar; they were both informative and helpful, and Tiffany had excellent tips for a good day at the parks. She even brought our child a coloring book and crayons while we waited for our breakfast. Note that the entrance to the hotel is somewhat hidden; it shares a driveway entrance with Ruth's Chris steakhouse. Pass by the restaurant and keep driving past its valet parking; the hotel entrance will be on your left. It's a smaller hotel, but I think this improves upon the personalized service I've come to expect from Marriott. There are small items that could be improved upon, but overall, this Courtyard provided a very...
Read moreThis place is a joke. First, at check in, everything was fine they charged my card, my bank indicated they took the money, the POS keypad indicated approved, the representative told me it didn’t go through. I called my bank they told me the charge was successful, the hotel then tells me I need a different card & to pay again. Husband provides his card & I ask so what are they going to do about the $200 they took from me already ? They told me I would need to call my bank as it was a problem on their behalf.. it was not. It was the hotel. They indicated this was for one night only. I booked for 2 originally. I again reluctantly booked the room again.. to which they told me booking through front desk I would have to pay $120 more than listed online ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE. So I booked online because I’m not giving them almost $400 for the same exact room. Go down stairs check back in for the same girl who was there yesterday to tell me my name needs to match the card when they again forced my husband to put his card down. Once the room was back in order after went to still give them a chance went to their coffee shop area . The lady there was absolutely rude I was going to ask if they scan for Starbucks she didn’t let me even get my question out before telling me no she doesn’t do that. Ok cool. Just liked receiving the points I use it to get my medical staff a cup as a gift when they’ve gone above & beyond. Neither here nor there. All the staff has an attitude about them that if you work in hospitality & customer service you should be fired for. Still waiting for the $200 to be refunded to my card. Upon check out the front desk notified us that a $200 REFUND WAS ISSUED. Meaning originally they DID RECEIVE PAYMENT THE FIRST TIME. The manager TJ & his sidekick the young man who has no authority but calls himself a manager we’re biased because I used a chime card not my bank card because I don’t like to RISK ALL MY MONEY while on vacation & it’s best to keep it separate. They also give out amenities bags at check in apparently to EVERY FAMILY RHAT STAYS.. never offered. The actual complaints about this place is endless. I’ve traveled all over & stayed many many many places, this place was an absolute joke & I hope they both get what they deserve for their blatant lies & terrible customer service. I’ll be escalating this issue as since we all know Disneyland is expensive to have this experience to start off our trip with the least amount of help or acknowledgement of their mistake I will never use this...
Read moreThis is by far one of the best Marriott experience I ever had. It's my 3yr old's birthday. He wanted to spend his birthday and Thanksgiving at Disneyland with his buddy 'ol pal, Mickey Mouse. I did a little homework before choosing this Marriott. Why? Because not all Marriott are created equal. I'm sure all Marriott members know what I am talking about.
Let me talk about important amenities first- This location does not provide free breakfast or parking but that's ok. I have kids and cleanliness is my #1 priority over all. The hotel is very well maintained and super clean. Parking is $15/night which is not too shabby compared to other Marriott. I stayed on the 2nd floor and right across from the elevator (yes I was a bit nervous about the noise due to the previous reviews on here) but I swear, I did not hear anything. We all slept very well without any interruptions from noises. The location is very close to Disneyland. We did not take the shuttle (sorry, no info on that). The drive is literally 5 mins away. They have a small cafe next to the lobby and they serve Starbucks coffee! That is a plus for me! Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get quality coffee in the morning when your entire family is still in bed?
Now here is why I felt this Marriott stood out from it all - Ayden (birthday boy) had a blast at Disneyland. He met up with his buddy (Mickey). They hung out and took some pictures together. The entire day was filled with fun and laughter. By the time we left the park, it was 11p.m. My hubby and I managed to drag our kids and ourselves back to hotel to find a card for Ayden slipped into our room that said, "Howdy parter! There is a special birthday gift for you at the front desk." His face lit up with excitement. The card wasn't even written for me and I was even excited! Lol we hurried downstairs to the front desk and the Marriott team had put together a card and a gift bag and Mickey Mouse and ballon for him! Before we can even make it back to the room he took a glance the card with Mickey Mouse and said with excitement, "mama, papa, it's my favorite!" My heart melted! He loved everything! Just to give you an idea how much he loved the gifts that he fell asleep holding the balloon in his hand.
Thank you Marriott team! You guys made his birthday so special! You showed us that you will go over and beyond for your customers. We will be back!
Highly recommended!...
