Update I originally gave a 2 star review based on the issues stated below. Today (2/16/24) I went back for my follow-up appointment. I was checked in right away, the Girls were all very kind and provided great customer service (as usual). The doctor was great and got me the right prescription. They kindly held the frames that I was going to purchase and they still had them so getting my order in was super fast and easy. I was in and out in less than an hour. The staff here is really great and I definitely recommend this location. I do not however recommend the TelleDoc. I will not be doing that again. original visit I scheduled an appointment online for Friday 2/2/24 at 10:15. I received a call less than an hour before my appointment informing me that I could not be seen since they actually had no availability (I live 40 mins away so I was already on my way to the appointment). There was some glitch in the online system. They said they had a 12:15 the next day. I told them that was fine and went in on 2/3/24. I arrived a bit early and signed in at 11:42. I was not greeted or spoken to by anyone and sat waiting for over an hour before anyone even gave me a tablet to fill out my information. I could tell that there was some kind of issue getting the Doctor. I assumed maybe someone had called out and they were waiting on another doctor to come in. I then realized that it was a tellevist appointment. I was not even told that I would not be seeing an actual doctor that day. So, I was really upset about that. But I had been there so long already I went ahead and did the visit. They were having issues getting a doctor for the tellevisits so I was there for 2 hours before I was taken back. The call was disconnected the first time and I had to wait another 5 mins for him to be able to get back online. Finally, we’re doing the exam and I’m trying to explain to him what issues i’m having and why I think I need a new prescription and he’s being very dismissive of my concerns. Rushes me through the exam and then tells me my prescription is too high and he’s lowering it. I voiced my concerns with that and he didn’t really seem to care. Wrote me a prescription I can’t even use because he just wanted to hurry up and be done with me and move on to the next person in the que. I voiced my concerns about the exam and prescription to the tech. Explained that I have glasses at home that are lower prescriptions from 2021 and that I see better out of the one I have now. There was no way that my prescription needed to be lowered. I actually had my prescription from last year in my purse and handed it to the tech. After comparing the prescription she agreed that it was a significant change and she wouldn’t feel comfortable with me filling it either. She scheduled me an exam with the house doctor for two weeks from now. And I went up front to talk about the glasses. I explained what had just happened and they were all very kind and understanding. I’m very frustrated that I wasted three hours of my life for nothing, but I do not blame anyone at the store. I think they were just as frustrated as I was with the situation. I have been going to this location for my exams and glasses for 5 years and I have never once had anything but a great experience, until now. Most of the ladies that were working have been there every time I’ve gone. They were very helpful and have always been very kind. Hopefully I’ll get a real...
Read moreIt all started with acetone on my rimless glasses. Found out the hard way polycarbonate lenses don’t like acetone it eats them. Friend of mine put acetone in a plastic isopropyl alcohol bottle. Tried to clean my glasses with alcohol ended up with a mess. Walked in to Stanton optical Anderson SC and met the manger Kristy. I informed her I needed glasses and showed her the mishap with mine. I was worried because payday was a week off and I was on a budget. Kristy told me not to worry we would find glasses I could afford. She explained about the different colored tags on the frames of the glasses and ask me to pick out several I liked and she would give me a second opinion if I so wanted. After 20 min or so I found 5 or 6 that I like. We sat down talked about what I disliked about the glasses I had been wearing for the last year and any problems I had with the old pair. Kristy was a able to correct what another box store had done wrong when filling my past prescription for glasses. I’m a commercial carpet cleaner that travels to different states cleaning High end hotel carpets. Vision is important when looking for stains in carpet . I purchased $1100.00 worth of glasses from another store in Greenville Sc( won’t mention the name) and kept being told I was going to have to get use to the new prescription and sometimes this took a couple of months. The glasses made me dizzy and sometimes gave me headaches. I don’t ever remember getting use to the glasses. In a year and a half I guess I figured out how to live with it ( the problem) thinking it was my eyes that had the problem. Kristy listened and looked at my prescription and figured out how to help me. She identified that I had a stigmatized and also noticed i had a set of transitions glass s with a narrower bifocal field that was invisible to me but would get me dizzy when looking down. That made sense because I would always take my glasses off to read to avoid the blurr. I never was informed I had a problem with vision close up. It’s always been distance for me. . The last store never tried to explain, correct or help me even though I had complained on more than 3 different occasions about tripping going up stairs and the headaches. The employees there didn’t care and I felt I was a bother I guess. I was told just to bring them back and I could get my money back. Getting my money back wasn’t going to help. Still needed the glasses. Kristy never rushed me and spent couple hours with me which included making my glasses. I told Kristy I didn’t have insurance and had a budget of 250.00. . Because pay day was a week away. Kristy kept trying different discounts and promotions to save me money. I know she wrote the deal up a couple different ways trying to give me the best deal possible. Who’ve does that these days? My experience is nobody. Customer service is a thing of the past. Nobody cares these days. She saved me over $800.00 dollars.I was able to buy two sets of glasses averaging out to $150.00 a piece before taxes. We Special ordered a set of polarized sunglasses and I wore the set of glasses she had just made. . Customer service was great. Price was great and I felt like I mattered. Will never go to another eye glass store. I miss customer...
Read moreVery helpful and nice staff. Optometrist was very knowledgeable and experienced. I walked out with one pair (they can make them on site) and they will call me when they get the other pair finished. The one pair of glasses worked great but I ended up spending more than expected (read below for more info).
As far as the company, I'd probably give them an average score of 3 at best. The staff I'd give 5 stars, which is why I averaged and got 4 stars. Things you should be aware of: Apparently the optometrist is not always there every time you schedule an appointment, you have to ask to schedule while he's there. I showed up for my first appointment and asked where the optometrist was and was told I'd have to come back at a later time when he was there. There's also additional fees for seeing him (labeled as "professional services") despite the staff member during the previous visit telling me it would still fall under the $59 exam cost. It ended up costing close to $150 in exam fees, they only gave me a $59 discount ($88 total). Prices are not very transparent in general. I HATE that I can't just get 1 pair of glasses for half the price (instead of the buy 1 get 1). They did tell me if I wanted one pair that I could get the exam fees half off instead (of the $59) but that seemed like a terrible deal considering that if I got both pairs the entire $59 would be taken off. Also, make sure to check their selection before going through with the exam. The "$79 for two pairs and the exam is free" promotion doesn't help when there's almost nothing to choose from under the $150 price range. When you get to the point of picking out your lenses it's also hard to tell when they're quoting you prices on one lens or both. I thought it was implied that all prices were for both lenses, apparently some prices pertain to both lenses (anti-glare coating) while other prices are for each lens (material used). On top of that, the anti-glare coating is not part of the Buy 1 get 1 deal and you'll be paying for it on both pairs.
All said and done, I thought I could walk out spending less than $300 for 1 pair of glasses but ended up spending about $500 on two. I guess I have an extra pair of glasses but I'll never use them (I only plan to use these glasses...
