Best Buy: The Overpriced Wonderland of Tech and Totally Useless Accessories
🌟
Welcome to Best Buy, where my wallet goes to die and my dreams are filled with overpriced gadgets and accessories that I never knew I had to have! Walking through those glass doors is like stepping into a tech paradise that's somehow also the Bermuda Triangle for my bank account. Seriously, who knew a simple shopping trip could turn into a delightful scavenger hunt for things that serve absolutely no purpose in my life?
Let’s start with the tech section. I wandered in, eyes glazed over, immediately drawn to the latest smart refrigerator that can tell you the weather, stream your favorite shows, and probably judge your snack choices while giving you unsolicited nutritional advice. “You know, Karen, maybe skip the frozen pizza tonight?” Thanks, fridge… but if you can also magically prepare dinner, then we’ll talk.
But as I navigated through the aisles, I couldn’t help but get distracted by the sea of accessories that nobody really needs but somehow seem obligatory for any modern home. Have you seen the price of Apple products? You’d think that shiny little fruit on the back was made of diamonds! I mean, who wouldn’t want to pay an extra $500 for a sleek phone that comes with a piece of fruit engraved on it? At this point, I’m convinced that if you peel off the logo, you’ll find a whole orchard of overpriced accessories hiding underneath.
And speaking of outrageous prices, let’s talk about the smart washer and dryer combo that is literally the price of a used car! For the cost of what I could put down on an old Honda Civic, I can now wash my clothes in a unit that gently hums to me while getting rid of my dirt and grime with the power of Wi-Fi. Yes, please! Because nothing says “adulting” quite like having a laundry machine that can connect to your smartphone and remind you when it’s time to do your laundry. If it could also drive me to work and pay my bills, then we’d be in business!
Don’t even get me started on the endless options of overpriced cables and connectors! I’m pretty sure I could finance my house if I wanted to buy the latest HDMI cable that promises “ultra-high-definition” and “ethereal viewing experiences.” Newsflash: my TV can display “HD” just fine. But, hey, if I’m going to splurge, why not throw my money away on the “3-Meter, Gold-Plated, Super-Duple Shielded” version—because, you know, it’s all about the aesthetic when I’m binge-watching the latest season of my favorite show.
Before I knew it, my cart was brimming with things like a holographic Bluetooth speaker, an air fryer I probably won’t use enough to justify, and a mystery box of “collapsible kitchen gadgets” that I can only presume are just a bunch of tiny, unnecessary hula hoops for my food.
As I made my way to the checkout, I pondered how my shopping experience turned into an expedition for useless treasures that I absolutely did not need. I left Best Buy with bags in each hand and a credit card bill to make my future self weep.
So, if you’re in the mood for overpriced gadgets and bizarrely tempting accessories to cool up your space—regardless of necessity—Best Buy is the place for you. Just be prepared: you might walk in for a new phone charger and emerge with a sleek device that might just cost as much as your monthly rent, all because of that cute little piece of fruit. Happy...

I rarely shop at Best Buy. When I do, I try to shop through their website. I rarely go to the store. But this time, I needed something asap. This Best Buy reminded me how annoying the in-store shopping experience can be.
I walk into the store, greeted by the person sitting at the door. Ok, great. Thanks. Then I head straight to the department. Walked past a group of employees. I avoided eye contact and sped past them. I went straight to grab my item and walk away. While walking away from the department, some employee yells out if I had any questions. My back is to you, I didn't make eye contact, I didn't even face your way, I didn't come up to you, and I didn't stop walking -- but sure still ask if I had questions while I'm already walking away from the department.
I then went over to the computers and saw lots of cool stuff on display. No employees were in the area, thank god. So I took my time to browse and see the tech from different companies. While at the Mac section, I saw an employee walking and looking at me. I still don't make eye contact and just wanted to enjoy my time browsing. Did that happen? Nope, he asks out how I'm doing. I said good and walk away quickly in the opposite direction.
Then I realized I am not going to get to shop in peace and browse in peace so I decided to head to the checkout and get out there. While cutting through the phone section so I can get to the cashier, some employee walks up and asks me if I needed help with anything. Okay, I didn't look at him once. I didn't even look at any products. I didn't even stop in that section. I was walking straight to the cashier in a brisk manner but yet had to be asked if I needed something. I didn't even bother and just kept walking to the cashier.
I get it is their job and they have to do it but man thanks for reaffirming my decision to renew my...
Read moreIn 2014 when I moved to Brentwood, I bought my 1st tv-soundbar from Aaron in Home Theater that was installed by Vince from the Geek Sqaud. It is because of these two experts, consistently strong and customer service oriented staff that I continue to return to this location.
I purchased and had installed an additional (3) tvs + (1) pc monitor over the past few years, each time working with Aaron and Vince to get the best product for my application and installed expertly to get the best use out of it. My televisions and audio vary because they recommend the best for the application taking into acct. use, room size, light and use.
This past September before moving to new house a couple miles down the road, Aaron and Vince worked with me on another tv/audio purchase for an unusually large room and went over taking down and re-mounting all of my tvs and the monitor. Moving is stressful enough, but there was nothing stressful about my home entertainment relocation with these guys and the rest of the staff from Home Theatre and Geek Squad.
The Geek Squad crews here were moving and really interested in exchanging ideas and brainstorming ways to make mounting better, discussing IT/tech stuff. Everything installed cleanly and working perfectly (as usual). The 1st tv I mentioned form 2014 went into the garage and crew installed (5) tvs, (1) montior, (3) soundbars and lots of shelves/power suppies etc.
Best Buy retains great people and this location has champions like Vince and Aaron always going above and beyond to give a great customer service experience mixed with expert help for the best electronics/theatre experience. As a side note, they sent Vince to set up smart home stuff on separate order getting everything going smoothly with Alexa :-) Pics of most tvs installed posted, all put in 10/2018....
