Before writing this review, I contacted the spa to rectify the situation privately. I was promised a call back by end of day yesterday, they close at 7 PM and at 6:45 PM I did not get anything, so I followed up, and Grace informed that I'd receive a call by the afternoon the next day after she speaks with the spa director. Well, I am writing this review mid-afternoon the next day when I should have received a call, but haven't. After being told that I'd receive a call back, and not receiving the call over 24 hours later from my original contact, I am writing this review.
I've never been to this spa, but after finding them on Yelp, with some promising photos and some nice reviews, I decided to purchase gift certificates as a well-deserved Christmas gift, as it is pretty local.
I purchased 2 gift certificates, one for "Little Get Away" package which they currently advertise for $99 for 30 minute facial and 30 minute massage, and the other certificate for a 30-minute swedish massage, which is listed on the gift certificate itself so the person would have a buddy to attend the spa with. I also included a tip with both certificates, as this was an option, so that who I gifted it to would not have to worry about a thing, and I let them know they shouldn't worry as it is all paid for..
They schedule their massage, and even though who I gifted to did not specify what service, as they were unsure, the staff decided to just assign both a xanadu massage, even though on the gift certificate itself specifies what service they should be getting. Now, what was the point of me selecting what they would receive? On top of that, the front desk TOLD THEM TO TIP, when I originally included it. I felt this is not only embarrassing on my end, but unprofessional of the spa, as it is clear they aren't going to follow what was selected and just giving what they believe to gain more money.
I gave them 2 instead of 1 star because my giftee really enjoyed the masseuse, but the front desk is another story. Avoid the headache, distrust and lack of professionalism from this spa. I highly suggest to listen to other reviews who criticize the bookkeeping and organization of the...
Read moreMy Husband and I visited the spa this past weekend and I left feeling very disappointed with the customer service. The massages were great and the couples spa room was very nice. The one gripe I have about the massage is that my husband was told that stronger pressure would be an additional $10! That is not an add-on....that should be included based on preference. As for the facials, it sounds like my Husband received a better treatment than I did. The lady he had used different tools on him, offered some great tips and even offered him an add-on which he chose. The lady that did my facial hardly said a word and never offered anything additional. The biggest disappointment came when I went to the register to pay. When I called to book the package, I had been told on the phone that I could use my spa finder gift card towards the package. I presented my gift card and was told that it could not be applied towards the package. I explained that I had previously asked when I called in and she apologized but said that in order to pay with the gift card the services would need to be itemized out which would have made the total higher than the package price. I was very disappointed with the fact that they acknowledged that the other person was incorrect and yet did nothing to remedy their error (the lady seemed to imply that this wasn't the first time that this had happened as she knew exactly which person I had spoken to on the phone). I doubt that we will be returning to this spa...
Read moreI have been going to Spa Xanadu for more than 10 years. The owners, Donna and Hank, make every effort to ensure that the customer experience is relaxing and healing.
Donna's expertise in skin care has transformed my skin from problematic rosea to a glowing, happy and healthy complexion. At 63 I get compliments all the time and asked how I keep my skin so beautiful.
What I love most about this spa is the personal attention given. It's not a cookie cutter spa looking to sell the same experience every time. Skin care is delivered based on your skins needs and the most recent technology is available. Just ask Donna and she will share her knowledge about the best services for YOU.
Massages can be tailored to what you need most for relaxation. Hot stone, deep tissue, they do just about everything. Don't want to soak in the jacuzzi? Try the red light therapy room instead. Feel like a body scrub? They can do that too. Oh, and don't worry about your skin care purchases either. You can pick that up at Spa Xanadu as well.
This spa has a luxurious feel and is warm and inviting. Even after moving to San Dimas I make the drive to Arcadia because the experience is relaxing every time.
Try Spa Xanadu. You will be so glad...
