We were super excited to have our son's 4th birthday party at the Aquaplex. We rented a room and had around 10 kids join. The pool was clean and well staffed. I found it a little odd that kids had to be within arm's reach of an adult at all times even if they knew how to swim. This was strictly enforced. My 6 year old son was not tall enough to ride the water slide, which felt arbitrary. They did a drill where everyone had to get out of the pool and stand there for around 5 minutes so they could "check the pool," again a little odd and unnecessary but not the end of the world. Far and away the largest issue came around 15 minutes before our room rental time was up when we received the room's clean up sheet. It required us to clean the room, clean and disinfect every table and counter, take out all of the trash bags to the dumpster outside, sweep the floor, and mop the floor before the end of our rental slot or we would not get our deposit back (15 minutes from now). There were four young adults at the check in desk, each one on their personal phones, and every interaction with them felt like an inconvenience, such as when I politely asked where we could find cleaning supplies that were not provided to us (since we would need new trash bags, paper towels, cleaning wipes, a broom and a mop). I felt the lack of notice of the deadline and cleaning requirements was almost done on purpose, because there was absolutely no way we were going to be able to do this level of cleaning in 15 minutes. It took 4 adults 30 minutes of hustling to get this done, because if any step was skipped, we would not receive a refund. When we finished and had our area inspected, we were told since we were 15 minutes past our rental time that we would not get our deposit back even there were no other room rentals for the day. This felt like a ploy. While we were cleaning as fast as possible, we were reprimanded because our 4 year old went into the pool by himself and had to be removed by a life guard, as if that was an inconvenience. We politely told the staff of our concerns and it was met with a disingenuous response. I will never return to the Aquaplex for a...
Read moreHorrible customer service I drove in from Las Vegas to stay in Flagstaff.. I wanted to do this activity for my daughter. we were simply turned away the second she got into the water.
I’ve called this place numerous times to ask questions about their policies and toddler swimming and verifying that they’re going to be open..
Not only did they ask how many people are swimming? I said one adult and one child prior to paying they even acknowledged KIDS UNDER A CERTAIN AGE SWIM FREE..Once I did pay We changed our clothes to go swimming. My daughter put her feet in the water and an associate quickly came to us and said hey no children are swimming today. This is an adult only day.
So I went up to the front to request a refund. The girl sitting up in the front was twirling her hair and seemed so uninterested and not wanting to help resolve the issue she went to go get a customer service manager didn’t give her all of the information the customer service manager came up, asking why I wanted a refund. She told me that the girl worker didnt giving her the context as to why I was asking for a refund.
While all this is happening, the guy at the front desk is looking for my receipts through a pile of receipts that are in the trash..
Everyone’s wanting to go back-and-forth with me of what the last four digits of my card were. I showed them my card. I showed them the amount.. I even asked for a cash refund instead bc I didn’t care if it comes out of the register or somebody else’s pocket just give me the refund.
Since neither of them were able to find the receipt, she took down my contact information. She said once we find the receipt will send you a confirmation email. I’m pretty sure I’m not going to be receiving anything nor a refund..so I’ll definitely be calling my bank to dispute the charges.
Try better next time maybe communicate with any guests that have a children “hey your child can’t swim today”.
It would’ve solved...
Read moreThis is a beautifully designed pool. Like other City of Flagstaff properties, they have parking spaces shaded by solar panels.
They have a "lazy river," which is a dream come true for water walkers. They also have a time set aside specifically for water walking. There are many pools where if you want to walk laps in the shallow pool, you have to work around everybody who doesn't feel like being polite. Not so here.
The hot tub is large, hot, and has amazing jets in it. Extremely pleasant.
There are different areas for different activities, so plenty of room for everyone. There's a zero entry for the kids with lots of toys and fountains. There's a "vortex," if you want to work against the tide for more resistance. There's a socializing area in the middle of the lazy river, so people who want to socialize don't disrupt people doing laps. THANK YOU LORD!!! There's a large open area, if you want to do a cool plunge after the hot tub, or some other non-laps activity. There are three lap lanes. All told, again, something for everyone. Importantly, they've designed it to keep people out of each other's spaces, which is fabulous.
The bathrooms are very nice and private, and they even loan you a lock for free. Lastly, I love the giant dragon mural. It's a really lovely place to swim.
Only drawbacks: The water is cold, except for the hot tub. It's okay, because I get really hot working out anyway. But it felt cold for quite a while even after getting my head wet. Also, they don't have suit spinners. But that's a pretty...
