Hilton Garden Inn Asheville Downtown — Attraction in Asheville

I had the pleasure of staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Asheville for five months, from January through June, and I can honestly say it felt like a second home.||From the moment I checked in, the staff made me feel welcomed and cared for. Rhyne Franklin, the General Manager, clearly leads by example, his entire team is professional, warm, and always willing to go the extra mile. The front desk staff; Tina, Reagan, Meraldo, Lauren, David, Valarie (just to name a few)—greeted me with kindness every day and quickly got to know me by name. It was the kind of hospitality that reminds you of the show Cheers—where everybody really does know your name.||The Pillar Rooftop Bar was a gem of the hotel. Alejandro, Butters, Kayla, Amanda, Tate, Keith, and the rest of the crew created a fun, friendly atmosphere with great food, drinks, and live music every Friday and Saturday. Whether I was winding down from a long day or bringing friends and co-workers by, it always felt like the place to be.||Housekeeping was excellent throughout my stay—consistent, respectful of my schedule, and always keeping things spotless. I didn’t require major maintenance during my time there, but anytime I had a request, the team responded promptly and professionally.||Location-wise, the hotel is in a sweet spot: close enough to downtown to be convenient, but just far enough on the edge to enjoy a quieter, more relaxed environment. A free shuttle is also available to downtown and back. It made getting around Asheville and hopping on the highway easy and stress-free.||Of course, over a five-month stay, small issues can pop up, usually on my end but every time, the staff handled it quickly and with care. That level of consistency is rare, and it didn’t go unnoticed.||Leaving wasn’t easy. After months of being greeted with smiles and treated like family, it was hard to say goodbye. I’ll genuinely miss everyone there and look forward to the day I can return. Y'all know who this is and I will be back.||Thank you all for making my stay...

The only reason for four stars is the price. $479 is more than should be charged for this hotel. While brand new , great location. This hotel is not in the same category as a Conrad or Ritz Carlton. I understand all hotels in this area are very pricey during this time of year due to a perceived Fall foliage season, however the leaves are quite green for now. Luckily we had points and were able to receive the room at no cost. As for the hotel , staff was great. Parking is conveniently located adjacent to the hotel. They do offer a shuttle to dining and entertainment close by. There is a rooftop bar, and thankfully the manager on duty moved our 5th room floor to a lower level with the assumption we did not want to hear the music from the 6th floor, I was great full for that.

Our stay was uneventful. We had breakfast at the restaurant using the $10 / per adult credit for what used to be a free breakfast for elite Hilton Diamond Members . The formally free breakfast now cost $42 total with tip, after the $20 credit was applied. Hilton , if you are listening I am not a fan of this new policy.

I would stay here again using points , but I could not justify the $479 / night price tags if I were...

Nice modern hotel that has spacious rooms and comfortable beds. The trappings are well-designed and mesh well. The location provides easy access to downtown and surrounding areas. But a few things need rethinking or attention. First, the shuttle is not wheelchair accessible. If Hilton want to provide a service, then the service must be for all guests. Parking fees were a shock to me. The fees are posted on the hotel website, but if you reserve via the Hilton Honors website, then you will not know about the fee until you check-in. When I asked, the person checking me in offered to drop the fees, but ultimately did not follow through as I was hit with a $20 charge anyway once I got my bill by email.

We tried to eat breakfast but gave up after sitting for 10 minutes and not seeing any wait staff. But City Bakery is close by and a great option given the high cost of breakfast items on the hotel menu. But free coffee and tea are available, and that is a plus. And the coffee is actually good.

Adherence to COVID-19 protocols was mixed. Most staff wore masks, but many guests did not. Staff in general were friendly.
