my mom got my husband and I a couples retreat package for our birthday. we had never heard of the place. The manager that was working, the front desk was very informative and very friendly, walked us through the whole process of everything. The private soaking pool was nice and the food is served poolside. I had never had this type of food before and was not fond of any of it. we went to go check out the public pool very nice space although there was definitely hair and other particles floating and it did not look very clean. Went back to our private pool which was nice. after the hour in the private pool, we had an amazing massage by the massage therapist. After we were finished the lady at the front desk told me that I needed to check out because I had a card on file, but we hadn’t done anything with it yet. I explained to her that we had a gift certificate. she asked if we would like to leave a tip for anyone or our massage therapist. I told her I did not bring any extra money as this was a gift card and her response was “ wow ok!” I’ve never got that kind of response before just because I didn’t tip. The package was almost $400 that my mom paid for us to go and not have to spend any money. other than the food and the ladies response to not tipping we had a good experience. they also encourage people to walk around naked in a wrap that is clearly see-through (white) which was a little uncomfortable for me but if you like that kind of thing, it might be a...
Read moreAre you kidding me!? How is this place real!!? Chozu is one of a kind. I wish I lived in Ashland so I could come here weekly. Gorgeous, peaceful Asian garden and baths. They have two co-ed communal pools - a cold plunge and a giant hot tub - surrounded by plants & rocks. Clothing optional in the water after 6pm. They also have a communal hot sauna and male/female steam rooms. It’s such a lovely place to go with your partner (PDA highly discouraged, but it’s nice to spend some relaxation time together instead of alone, separated by genders at other spas I’ve been to). Staff are super friendly. The food on site is perfect to snack on - miso soup, some dumplings, hot tea, alcohol. Feels so refreshing, relaxing, and like my soul is reinvigorated after coming here! Definitely get a massage while you’re there too - Todd is so great and strong, he intuitively knows what muscles need more attention than others and I always walk out so much more relaxed and less achy. My boyfriend loved his massage with Todd as well (said it was the best he’s ever had!). There are also a few private rooms/baths you can rent for partners/groups but I’ve never done that. Will always come back, and highly recommend checking Chozu out for a...
Read moreAbsolutely one of the most horrible experiences! The staff was Rude unfriendly and looked like a bunch of strung out junkies. The facilities is run down and unsanitary. I would avoid this place at all cost. When I asked to speak with the owner or management I was denied and the front desk clerk (jackass)wanted to get confrontational and threatening. My girlfriend and I were charged for services not rendered when we were accommodating their staff due to a massage therapist calling in sick. If you’re looking for a relaxing spa day this is definitely not the spot! After writing this review I will contact the Chamber of Commerce Better Business Bureau and the health department to voice my concern to the public’s health and well being. The Japanese gardens and pools were so filthy I did not even stay for the massage. Both pool attendance we’re odd awkward and very creepy. Don’t drink the tea no telling what the staff is...
