The Thomas theater in Ashland is a great venue for the Performing Arts it's casual the seeding is unique and near Interactive. I did get an opportunity to talk to one of the volunteers about the smoke from the wildfires and whether it had caused a lower attendance. His answer was interesting he stated that people were no longer lingering outside the theater doors talking and sharing stories but going immediately inside and taking their seats. Most of the people who work there as well as the volunteers are more than comfortable talking and sharing their experiences and thoughts about the theater as well as the area. We've gotten great advice for experiences beyond the Ashland area from wine tastings 2 hikes. People go to Ashland mostly for the theater but I think they go back the second and third time and beyond that because of the kindness of the volunteers and the people of Ashland the restaurant tours and hotel people who are always nice and kind and caring Ashland's a...
Read moreWe saw Hannah and the Dread Gazebo here, the stage is small but it was very well utilized for the production. The back drop wall weighs about 8 metric tonnes and must be assembled and disassembled nightly. They theatre foyer was modern and upscale, and with a beautiful sitting area outside the theatre doors for viewers to sit and wait. This particular play was done very well using the tiny stage thanks to all the lighting work. Despite the story require different settings, ie from America to Seoul, subway VS roof top.. All was present on the same tiny stage. How you may ask? Thanks to the wonderful effects, sound and lighting audience members knew just where to look and pay attention and they become fully immersed into the story where you know exactly what is happening and where they are in each scene. Unfortunately, no pictures...
Read moreThe play was absolutely fantastic! CONFEDERATES! Not a weak spot in the cast or technically. It's a small intimate theatre, which is more intimate. I enjoy those types of plays. I look forward to seeing other plays here.
The theatre itself needs some new seats. They are very uncomfortable. I take a cushion with me everywhere I go because of two previous back surgeries.I didn't think I was going to make the two hours. My husband was also having difficulty and his back pain reared up afterward.
Exiting seemed a bit convoluted and we followed fellow patrons out a side exit.
All in all a wonderful experience.
