My wife & I provide Emergency Therapeutic Foster Care in Medford & are Volunteer CASA's for Medford ... we are kinda busy .. We have become ViP members of the OREGON Cabaret in close by Ashland ...
What a delightful venue ! A historic anchor location in Ashland. The Cabaret has a revolving calendar of events and entertainment selections thru-out the year.
As members there may be some membership tailored admissions, not sure, but no event or title has been $$$ prohibitive, that we can have a date night out every few month's dress up, attend their earlier eating & seating service of appetizers, drinks, and or a dessert & fresh coffee sercice @"an intermission that evening.
At each turn of the evening, the time spent is leisurely & low key. The staff on the floor is always attentivev & very polite, refreshing!
Then the main attraction of the evenings live entertainment is up close, personal contact with the performers and top notched!
We attended a special seating fro Valentines that incl. A full course meal selections, always fresh, original & plated to always completely satisfy our expectations!
The staff serve the tables in stages during the performance, swiftly & quietly, smiles, courtesy & engaging with eye contact polite conversations & having just the right touch of having the ability to help you enjoy the evening ... a lost art these days, but Ashland & The Cabaret understand the importance of helping their guest have a take away evening of memories, excellent food choices, up close and very enjoyable stage performances ... BtW ... if you have time still my wife & I recommend BEEHIVE, covering a selection of important & beloved (historical) womens performances from the 50's - 70's
Each entertainer, each to gave an ability to fulfill some of the very natures of our favorites incl. Tina Turner, she nearly brought the house down, Janis Joplin @ Woodstock ect ...
Stirring as they carefully lived big in these various performers, allowing us to remember them as we fondly did / do ... but each performer was true to the art of a stylized performance that brought dignity to their contribution in the annals of the various womens performances thru the years.
Was refreshing, uplifting & you came away with the fact that the staff BEEHIVE , really enjoyed their evening as well !
As my wife & I usually can make it an evening out, we take in one of the close in hotels that have new king size beds, a pool, close in eats, for a lazy wake up call with a quick pack & go home the next morning, thank you Holiday Inn & Suites, we really enjoyed the room renovation that Holiday Inn completed recently, as we slept on a virtually new Kig with all the assorted new linens, pillows & duvet set & bed covers. A nice "Lux Feel" ... & a hearty self served breakfast, ...
Read more"The Play That Goes Wrong" was hilarious. I was laughing so hard I was crying the whole way through. Very well acted, loads of fun. The rest of my group wasn't as into the slapstick humor as I was and still found it very entertaining. But the food... oh dear. This was probably the sixth or seventh time I've been to the Oregon Cabaret and I look forward to the dinner as much as the show. It has always felt like a fine dining experience in the past. Sadly, not this time. We all ordered salmon and 10 minutes later the waitress came back to say they were all out. Two in my group ordered the gnocchi instead and oh my goodness... it was really bad. Believe me, I'm not the fussy type if things aren't perfect... but this was unexpected... both dishes were dry and tasteless and we all thought, wow, did they reheat leftovers from the last show or something? I got the beet salad and it was okay. My friend had pineapple upside down cake for dessert and it had to have been a betty crocker mix. Something has changed in the kitchen for sure. Perhaps all of this is simply attributed to the general collateral damage to small businesses post "C." Too bad. I will end on a positive note - the waitress was a gem, and when my friend mentioned the gnocchi dishes weren't up to par, she had them removed them from bill without us asking. Nice gesture on the...
Read moreThe food and service was disappointing, but the show was really good! Amazing talent 👏. I guess I was expecting more of a classy place given the cost of the meal and the show. While I was seeing other people already finishing their dinner and the waitress clearing their plates, we hadn't even received our dinner yet, so I had to find our waitress to let her know that we hadn't received ours yet. 🤷♀️I felt like it was a little unorganized. I had the butternut squash ravioli, which I thought was good, but my husband had the ribs and he likened it to a piece of mediocre potroast and our friends had the primerib; while one of them liked there's, the other did not, too much fat and gristle. We were informed that when the show starts, we had to wear our masks 😷throughout the performance and that the actors will actually stop the show. Unfortunately by intermission and after dessert, the air was very hot and stuffy and it was difficult to breathe, so I lowered my mask below my nose to catch some air and was quickly told (very nicely), to please put my mask over my nose. I was very glad when the show finally ended around 10:30 PM because it was so hot and suffy and I was sweating 😓! But like I said, the show and actors were...
