1889 McInteer Villa — Attraction in Atchison

The experience here was fantastic as far as spiritual findings! We have a lot of footage, EVP recordings, and photos to review. We intended on booking this beautiful location bi-weekly to do further investigation. However please read my review before booking here. When speaking with the owner, with witnesses as she was on speaker phone, she told us that we could cook, have some coffee, soda and water. This part also stated in a text message from the owner when she gave us the code for the house which she said spelled out the word "boob", which was less than professional. Multiple phone conversations were had with the owner about how many people were in our small group as well as text had been sent. We also signed a waver stating in so many ways that we could be hurt physically, or otherwise without anything of the above mentioned in it such as "do not use the refreshments provided" and "do not cook". We walked into this house and surely enough it looked as if other guests had stayed there as there were used dishes as already was in a broken dishwasher and various takeout objects in the fridge from sonic. Though pretty disgusting after seeing the state of the dishwasher, this didn’t strike anyone as strange as the owner had clearly stated that she was in Texas and we could cook this leading us to believe someone didn’t do the best job cleaning up before us and this issue was for the owner to have taken care of but clearly neglected. Our group brought a cooler with some vegan food to cook - because the owner stated we could cook and we then cleaned up after ourselves and made use of the trash cans provided. We came in with nothing but respect for the house, spirits, and owner. We were told we could bring paranormal investigating equipment as well as a Ouija board so we did just that. Knowing that we were going to a haunted location we knew to be respectful.

The owner claims that we have “ransacked” the refreshments offered to us (which was well exaggerated of our small group of 4 people) through phone and text message and that they were her personal items as if she didn’t verbally as well as in text tell us that we could use these things. She states that the house was filthy like we threw a house party rather than had a paranormal investigation where the group actually ended up any rest time in their own vehicles out of respect. We are now of the belief that the owner of this place is to put it bluntly, well out of her mind. I will add photos of the “waver” provided to us, some pictures we took, and some video footage we took where we have supposedly filthied this house. I will also include phone calls circled red and green from my group with the owner. Lastly, I don't understand the complaint about our group being "larger" than told as one member of our group who was one of our physic mediums who was only going to stay few hours was not able to attend thus making our group a total of 4 people, all was discussed with the owner of the property.

400 dollars that was paid to stay here should more than cover the cost of the miniature sodas, waters, and coffee we were originally allowed to utilise. The owner of this place Stephanie not confuse our group with the previous group and review time stamps of her visitors and figure out who really caused a mess with her dishwasher as we used primarily plastic, paper, & aluminium after seeing the state of the dishwasher. As we walked through this house there were balloons everywhere, discarded paranormal equipment, discarded batteries, etc.We had thought this was due to people getting frightened and leaving their items or the owner had a sense of humour.

Lastly, we picked up and blessed the house appropriately before leaving early.

Also, to mention Stephanie claimed to be there at 3PM, half of our group was there and by evidenced by their walk through confused as to why no one was there.

I'd check out the Sally House instead.

We heard voices while we were sitting in the Library asking questions. My tape recorder picked up the voices as well (sounded like a young girl talking). We also used the dowsing rods in the Library and received responses. It was a young girl that seemed to be communicating initially. We played violin music on our phone and the EMF meter went wild. I had a spirit box and asked do you want us to play more music and a mans voice came across with a very clear, loud NO. We heard footsteps in the upstairs hallway.

In the basement, we had the cat balls being lit up and also our flashlight turning on and off. The cat toys & the flashlight were across the room from all of us so no one was messing with the objects other than spirits.

In one of the sitting rooms on the main level our EMF meters were very active. Also, we were sitting around the table talking and had 3 EMF meters on the table. Depending on the story being told the meters were shooting up to red. All 3 meters would go off at...

To visit you need to call the number & talk to the owner. She is a super sweet lady! She lives an hour away so if you plan to visit this place keep that mind if you are on a time schedule. When we got to the house, the owner let us in & then gave us a tour of the house. Yes you can explore on your own, but we loved having her show us around & telling us the history of the house as well as the ghostly encounters that she & others have experienced. We absolutely loved it & plan on going back for a visit! And yes we did experience some activity while there. Definitely a must visit while in Atchison, KS :)

March 2025 We came back again this year & had an even more awesome experience! Stephanie is still the same amazingly awesome sweet lady! The Villa is still just as haunted (if not more) as last year! Will we be coming back? Hell yeah we will!!! Had an absolutely amazing fun time and adding a video from the shenanigans we had :) Can’t wait...
