The Best Hair Experience with Jeremy at Helmet Hair Works I’ve been a loyal client of Helmet Hair Works for nearly 20 years, and it’s truly a salon that feels like home. When my long-time hairstylist left, I was initially skeptical about finding someone new who would understand my hair as well as they did. But Helmet recommended Jeremy Matthews, and trusting their judgment turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Jeremy has been my hairstylist ever since (over a decade and still counting), and I couldn’t imagine going to anyone else. Over the years, Jeremy has guided me through countless hair journeys—short cuts, long styles, and my transition to embracing my natural gray hair. About eight years ago, I decided I was done with frequent coloring and wanted to go gray. Jeremy supported me every step of the way, ensuring my scalp stayed healthy and the color looked natural before I took the plunge into transitioning my hair fully. Thanks to his expertise and artistry, the transition was seamless. My hair looked fantastic throughout the process—never dull or outdated. Jeremy kept my cuts fresh and flattering, ensuring I always felt confident and current, even as we moved away from coloring. My hair is the healthiest it’s ever been. I regularly receive compliments on both the natural color and style, which is all thanks to Jeremy’s incredible skill. Beyond Jeremy’s talent, the entire Helmet team is wonderful. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the product selection is fantastic, and I love browsing their unique candles and products while I’m there. Every visit feels like a treat, and I leave looking and feeling like a million bucks. I can’t recommend Jeremy or Helmet Hair Works enough. If you’re looking for a stylist who is both incredibly skilled and genuinely cares about your hair, Jeremy is the one. He has completely transformed how I feel about my hair, and I couldn’t be...
Read moreMy hair still looks stunning after visiting Helmet for the first time about a month ago. I used the Groupon Promo and was slightly apprehensive doing so. The deal honestly seemed too good to be true (I figured there was some catch hidden in the disclaimer) - but this was not the case at all. Rachel was my stylist and she did an amazing job - provided me with top notch service, kept me laughing the whole time with great conversation, and had me leaving there feeling like I had just gotten a makeover 💋. I got partial highlights, cut, shampoo, style, and added some conditioning upgrade since I only paid about $36 for the services. 😊
I only got about 1.5" off but my hair looked (and felt) better than it ever had. Helmet was even nice enough to accommodate my last minute appointment and I learned that Rachel offered to stay late to do my hair. I am certainly glad she did! I already made my next appointment since they offered a discounted rate for booking your next appointment when you checked out.
The entire staff went above and beyond to provide ecceptional service. The atmosphere also added a truly unique touch. I don't know of many trendy salons are situated in an 100+year old home right off of Piedmont. Did I mention they also had parking right out front! And this is for a place thats near the very busy (and trendy) corner of 10th and Piedmont.
If you want to save $20 mention my name when you are making your appointment/checking out and they should hook you up. Hope your hair turns out as great as mine did.
Thanks Rachel - you did a fantastic job and made me look...
Read moreGot a good haircut by Perry, but expensive. My hair coloring experience there, though, was TERRIBLE. I had a little gray in my hair and I decided to color it. Perry asked if I wanted the color of my dark brown hair changed. I said well, maybe, just a tiny bit lighter. I really emphasized this because I am a male and I did not want it to be noticeable. Instead, I got blond brassy hair color mostly just on the top of my head. I told him that this was exactly what I explained that I didn't want. He asked cluelessly what I didn't like about it. I said the fact that I'm now BLONDE. He redid it back to brown the next day and got the color perfect. Three days later the brown had totally washed out. It was back to brassy blonde and my hair was so frizzy that I had to sleep with conditioner in my hair or my hair would tear out when I tried to brush it the next morning. Today, he redid my hair again saying he would leave the dying element(?) in longer so it would take. I now have BLUE-BLACK hair. Nothing sadder looking than a 55 year old man with jet black hair, except maybe one with bright blonde hair. That cost me another $110. And Perry TEACHES hair coloring at Helmet. My advice: if you are a man don't let Helmet touch your hair color. Plus, you can get just as good of a haircut at half the price...
