I want to address a review claiming that the senior pastor is working behind the scenes to get rid of LGBT clergy. This is false. Our red doors are open to everyone. I have had the pleasure of being a member of Saint Mark for over 35 years and have held several lay leadership positions. I can confidently say that this church truly embodies the spirit of love and inclusion. From the moment you walk through the doors, you are greeted with warmth and a genuine sense of belonging. The pastoral team is deeply committed to nurturing the spiritual growth of each member. They create a welcoming environment where everyone, regardless of their background, sexual orientation, gender identity or skin color, feels valued and supported. Saint Mark’s commitment to inclusivity is evident in all our activities and events. The church’s involvement in the Atlanta Pride Parade and our extensive preparations for the October Pride celebration showcases our dedication to embracing diversity and celebrating love in all its forms. Additionally, the church’s various initiatives, like our ongoing outreach efforts to serve and support those in need within our community, reaffirm our commitment to helping the needy, the housing insecure, as well as combating food and clothing insecurity. Saint Mark is more than just a place of worship; it is a community where every individual is respected and loved. While no community is without its challenges, our dedication to inclusivity and support for LGBT clergy is unwavering. I highly recommend visiting and experiencing the inclusive and supportive atmosphere for yourself. Peace and Love

While our denomination is struggling with its future, St Mark is going forward with God's grace and love. The music and sermon were especially God inspired for the last Sunday of Black History Month. The focus on the sermon was to love your enemies.

I am not normally one to write a review, however recent reviews have spurred me to write one today.

I have been attending St. Mark UMC for almost 30 years now. Like all churches, there have been ups and downs. We have weathered many storms in my time, as well as over the last 120 years. Our goal has been to love and serve our community to the best of our ability during that entire time and demonstrate the love and grace of God.

Today I am saddened by the comments that our staff is not supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. Have there been times we have made mistakes? Yes. Have we worked on learning from those mistakes? Yes? Have those mistakes enabled us to have deep, meaningful conversations with one another? Yes. It is by the grace of God that we are continuing everyday to do the work that we are called to do. I can say this with confidence as I currently serve on our Lay Leadership and Development committee and actively work with the staff and administrative council. I can't say enough to those looking for a welcoming and affirmative church, this is it.

If you are looking for a church that has perfect people, who always make the right decision, this is not the place for you.

If, however, you are looking for a place that does love and accept who you are and will learn and grow with you, this is the place.

Peace be with...

I live in Toccoa, but St. Mark was my home church when Jimmy and Beth were there. I plan to be back when Rev. Phillip Thomason preaches during Pride weekend. What a blessing and advocate he was during his long career.

The music was great and they announced the new Chior Director had been chosen.

The newest pastor from Jamaica greeted me before the service. I didn't know she was the senior pastor, and the series about signs and Jamaican signs was perfectly woven into a cute cultural message with sound preaching. The sign Bumpy Road Ahead was posted. I knew it was something I needed to hear, so it was perfectly relatable.

It's always refreshing to come home and see change and church growth. I praise God for the...
