My wife and I tend to avoid B&Bs because they can be kinda funky: stuffed animals and dolls sitting in corners and bad plumbing and creepy photos of peeps you don't know on the wall, etc. If you've avoided Stonehurst Place because of the B&B identity, as we had done for years, you've made a big mistake. Stonehurst is much more of a well-appointed high-end inn that happens to also serve a delicious breakfast. It is by far the best lodging we've experienced in Atlanta -- and, having a grown daughter living there, we go quite often. Despite it being a historic home, the rooms are nothing short of a five-star business-class hotel with updated plumbing and electrical and plenty of outlets for charging devices. There's even an Alexa speaker for use in your room and a towel warmer, too. Very plush linens and robes as well. Yet the details of a small inn are plenty, from the sitting nooks and books in shelves to the complimentary brownies left under glass for us upon arrival. ... We were the first guests of the new owners (the inn just changed hands), and Judy and Nelson went above and beyond making us feel at home. We had an issue on the first night with hearing the beat of the music from in-house speakers downstairs, so they made sure the music was turned off the next night AND they comped us the room for our bad night of sleep. The next night was perfect and restful. And the food: The new associate innkeeper (I'm remembering her name is Cynthia but might be wrong on that) made excellent breakfasts for us: eggs Benedict one day and moist, perfectly cooked scrambled eggs and waffles another. Also notable were the acai-and-honey and chia-and-lemon side dishes, very creative and flavorful. Coffee comes in a French Press. Keyless entry to the house is easy as you just type in the last four digits of your phone number. Very walkable neighborhood, and one morning we walked a block to Piedmont Park and enjoyed the farmers' market. Owning an inn has been Judy's dream for a long time -- and you can tell because she paid attention to every single detail. She is friendly and hospitable without being obtrusive. One caveat: Parking is limited, and you are reliant upon the other guests to park tightly and courteously, which they did not. That said, Judy and Nelson always made sure we had a place to park our car. We will definitely be repeat guests at this...
Read moreI booked this room last minute and added their gourmet getaways food package (for a welcome charcuterie board and a gift certificate for dinner nearby). One of the owners met us at the door when we arrived and showed us around. The next morning we met her husband at breakfast and he seemed genuinely thrilled that we loved the food.
This was probably the most comfortable and welcoming place I've ever stayed. We stayed in the room called The Eaves, it was super cozy and the bed was so comfortable. We took a little nap both days we were there and each Small Sleep felt like a full night. I felt really refreshed by the end of the weekend, between the naps and full sleeps.
Parking is included and it's really close to a ton of stuff, and only like five minutes drive after the exit from 85.
I talk about breakfast more in a separate review section(?) but it was excellent. They also had some miscellaneous snacks in the room and also in a cabinet downstairs. I'm always snacky so that was super nice for me. There's another room with coffee and tea available whenever too. Also the tap water is filtered and purified and tasted like Nothing, which is also super nice for me because I'm unfortunately really picky about water taste.
As far as overall value, this was barely more expensive than any nearby hotel once you account for food and parking, and the comfort and caring difference is worlds apart. Super super recommend staying here.
Side note: This is probably irrelevant to 99% of guests because of the genre haha but we went to a (late, heavy electronic music) concert at Believe Music Hall and a Lyft was only like $15 each way. Just to give a general idea of transportation costs to locations a...

I've had the pleasure of staying at Stonehust twice this year so far while in town for work, after previously trying a spectrum of stays from Airbnb (got my catalytic converter stolen in a gated parking area) and a hotel downtown (didn't feel comfortable with walking the area). Finally found Stonehust and will be sure to book anytime I'm in town.
The first time I had the opportunity to talk with John at length, he is so kind, and it's clear how much he sincerely cares about guest experiences.
The second time I got to meet Grace, she's absolutely a lovely person and a pleasure to talk to.
The home and grounds are stunning. So well cared for and there are no details overlooked.
My highlights are John, Grace and the other caretakers, along with breakfast and treats left in the rooms. I love talking with other people joining for breakfast. It's so interesting to hear where others are from. Both times I met couples staying for a Staycation in the area.
I've also nerded out on their rewards programs and found Select Registry an unexpected treat to learn about. History and architecture are my favorite things to experience when traveling and Select Registry basically does the work for me and highlights exceptional B&Bs around the country so you don't have to dig to find a unique stay.
The team at Stonehust is incredible and all of my coworkers are jealous when I share what the experience is like. I'm in town at least quarterly so I hope I don't wear out my welcome with John and Grace.
I'd leave 10 stars if I could but 5 will have to do....
