(Part 1/2) NEVER AGAIN! I would give this place zero stars if I could! I wanted to share my two awful experiences with this salon. I've called the salon to make two different appointments. The first time was for medium/large individual twist. Long story short, some of the twist was painful and I asked the stylist for adjustments to make it more comfortable. I was told by the stylist that she didn't want to do that and to try again another day. I literally had to adjust it myself there and a little more at home. Even though that time wasn't the best experience, I was giving the stylist the benefit of the doubt and said to myself "ok, I'll try this place one last time it was only one experience." I didn't even mind trying it with a new stylist at that point, I just wanted to support it because it branded itself as a Natural Hair Salon. I recently made an appointment for a simple low curly ponytail hairstyle. I still had the same individual twist hairstyle in from the same stylist. When I called, I told her the style I wanted and that I still had my medium/large individual twist in. I wanted to book later on in the week. I was told "ok" and that they had available time slots in the morning on Friday and to bring what I needed for the style. I was excited to go because I had a important event that I had to go to later on that night and becuase this was an "hair salon that cares about your hair."
IMPORTANT NOTE The salon is in a location that's hard to find and extremely hard to get to, the location is behind a bunch a buildings and gates in a back alley. I definitely felt uncomfortable the first time, I was never told about the location until I was near by, called the salon again, and asked. The location doesn't necessarily feel all that welcoming.
The second time I made sure that I had 3 other people to see me go inside the salon for safety reasons. I got there and sat in the chair, greeted everyone, and gave the stylist what she needed to style my hair. While she started to take my hair apart with previous individual medium/large twist, she told me "Oh, you wanted a take down?" I said "yes, I told you that I still had the individual twist style in. Remember?" She said "oh ok. I don't know if I can do this today because I have somewhere to be" and then said "I'll try though." In a rude way she stated "you have to pay additional for the take down" while she was already started taking apart my hair. I was a bit thrown off and confused. One of the other stylist offered to help her with finishing my hair. I said "ok, I already assumed that there would be additional cost for a take down." She quickly countuined to unravel my hair and I began to help her because I was just being nice and wanted to speed up the process.
After we took out all of my twist, she started to brush through my hair. Throughout that whole time, she was complaining to the other stylist about her face peeling, flaking, and itching, she was scratching her face while trying to brush my hair. 🤢 I just wished she kelp that to herself because that added to me feeling uncomfortable. I’ve tried to change the subject and told her that "I was excited to get my hair washed" then she said " you wanted a wash too?! Ohhh uhhh." She sighed with an attitude and said "that would be additional" I replied "ok, as expected." I went over to get my hair washed. After the wash, she told me that she couldn't finish my hair because she has somewhere that she wanted to be. The other stylist that offered to help changed her mind and never even touched my hair. It's a very small space and there are only 3 stylist that works at this salon by the way and none of them helped at all. No suggestions, no anything. I was like "all of this would've been nice to know over the phone before I made an appointment, drove here, and wasted my time. I have somewhere that I have to be too."

Read more(Part 2/2) The stylist that worked on me was unprofessional, rude, and she didn't even finish my hair. She still had the nerve to charge me for her services for the take down, brush out, and the wash that was about $100. I felt that I was definitely ripped off, but I still paid. I didn't even get a apology for the inconvenience. I've never made a fuss, I was very nice even though I felt the way that I did, I was honest, and I was very clear of the type of services that I wanted from the very beginning. I had to leave and make a appointment for someone else to finish my hair somewhere else. That was hard to find since it had to be a same day appointment. Thankfully, Curltophia treated me nicely, was professional, welcoming, and did a excellent job. It's a great salon that caters to all hair textures, thickness, lengths, and styles. I would recommend anyone to go there instead. I normally don't do reviews unless it's a great review, but I had to give a warning to other people so no one would have to experience what I've experience.
Later found out that this salon rebranded themselves but still the same services.

Read moreWhat a great experience. I had a very interesting talk with my stylist, Saharah. She is very down-to-earth and even gave me tips on how to start locs from my twists if I decide to. There was a small hiccup at first because I was not made aware that you can't pay with your card, but she helped me find an ATM that was open nearby and all was well. You can pay with cash or Apple Pay - things like that. I would highly recommend her, she even is a licensed cosmetologist! My hair took about 90 minutes and it was done perfectly, she even used the cream I brought, she didn't use heat on my hair, she was gentle and didn't pull my hair -- wow wow wow. Don't second guess, make your appointment with Saharah, she will take great...
