True Spec Golf - Atlanta — Attraction in Atlanta

I spent over 3 hours wit my club fitter Sean, who has been with True Spec since they opened in Atlanta. He went through so, so many combinations of club heads and shafts, for every club, driver, each wood, different hybrids and wedges down to the 60 degree. Despite the new technology, he was unable to find a driver that ga e me more than 3-4 yards more carry than my present one, so he suggested no change there. Several different 4 woods were tried, with slightly more improvement, but again he did not push the sale. We did have better luck with the irons and a 4 hybrid however, and I ordered a hybrid and irons 6 to pitching, with a different brand for the three wedges. Sean is obviously very thorough and knowledgeable, explaining all of his choices and the reason behind them, as well as being very personable. I am super excited about the clubs that will arrive in a month and have plans to see him again in March or April about the woods, after working on increasing club head speed over the winter. My friend recommended I get fitted by Sean. This True Spec location is easy to find and you can valet and walk right inside. The setup feels private, but is also spacious and within a larger private golf bar. Sean is really easy to talk to and does a great job explaining all the metrics and what he is looking for. I actually went to Sean twice; got the yips the first time and couldn’t get a great readout. We laughed about it, and he gave me some tips and said to come back in a few months. I went in expecting to get one of three different brands of irons, but ultimately got Taylormade p770s. Sean never pushed any particular brand and relied on the numbers and the clubs I felt most comfortable with. I got to try basically every brand of iron and shaft combo. Ordering was easy and the turnaround time is 3-5 weeks. At the end of the fitting, Sean gave me a few more swing thoughts to build on. I had a wonderful experience having my irons fitted by Sean Shackelton. I have been fitted by teaching professionals in the past, but this was a whole different experience. Sean is such a knowledgeable club fitter. I had been hitting several balls near the hosel, but Sean knew what to do immediately. My clubs were too long, and the lie angle needed to be corrected. We tried several different heads and lie angles, then we moved on to the shafts. After each trial, Sean went to different shaft lengths and swing weights and flex points. He uses the Trackman launch monitor and he understood the numbers like a scientist. He did not push me into buying new clubs. In fact, at one point, he told me he could bend the shafts that I had, but I definitely wanted to get lighter graphite shafts due to getting older and I was recovering from rotator cuff surgery.
