A group of us dined here for our friend's birthday dinner. We were eagerly anticipating this meal as we had heard wonderful things about this restaurant. We sat right by the kitchen, and the staff members were incredibly friendly to us. Our server was very attentive and addressed all our questions/concerns. We had brought in a birthday cake to end the meal with. One of the kitchen members asked if he could put it in the fridge for us, we said thank you and he took it away.
Because it was a birthday dinner we ordered to our hearts desire: which included drinks, appetizers, and entrees for the 8 of us. The food come out quickly and overall we enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. ( I will add that over half of the Fritto Misto Di Mare was fried onion which felt a bit unreasonable as we were paying $21 to enjoy fried calamari and shrimp).
Unfortunately, when it came time to pay the bill our overall experience was impacted negatively. For the 8 of us, our bill was over $530, which we anticipated. HOWEVER, we noticed there was a $25 cake fee, which surprised us all. We spoke to our waitress and she told us this is a restaurant policy and that we were told in advance of booking our reservation about this fee.
From this point on, the miscommunication spiraled. We pulled up the information we received from our booking, and it did not include ANY information about a cake fee. We showed this to our server and she said she would speak to her manager. When our server returned she said her manager was checking Yeppa's website to see where the information was listed. We were all taken aback that our claims were being scrutinized by the manager. We continued to wait and after quite some time our server returned informing us that the manager was still busy deciding about the fee and looking for the place where the information is listed, but that they would come speak to us.(If the manager of the restaurant is unable to find information listed on their own website in under 5 minutes, maybe the information is not there or is not easily accessible to customers).
We continued to wait for a long period of time. Our server felt bad for us and she said she took the fee off. She said she didn't want to keep us waiting and will deal with her manager later. It was like playing a game of telephone, our server kept running back and forth trying to communicate this information with the manager INSTEAD of the manager coming to speak to the table.
What was a slight miscommunication turned into a larger ordeal, which shined a light on the management of this restaurant. The manager did not portray good customer service or problem solving skills, and was not accessible at all. We felt that since we were not told about this fee, we shouldn't be held responsible to pay it. When we walked into the restaurant we asked if it was okay to bring the cake in or if it wasn't allowed, they said yes it's fine with no mention of the fee.
All this to say, for those of you looking to celebrate and bring a birthday cake to this restaurant, there is a $25 fee. We were overall very disappointed at the leadership of this establishment, and won't be...
Read moreSuch A Disappointing Experience
We were so excited to finally try Yeppa after hearing all the great things about it, but our experience was a complete disaster.
We had a reservation for nine people at 8:30 PM and arrived at 8:15 to check in. The hostess told us they would notify us when our table was ready, so we waited outside in the freezing cold, assuming it would only take a few minutes. However, 20 minutes passed with no updates. By 8:45, we approached the hostess stand, only to be met with vague responses and no real communication about when we’d be seated.
To make matters worse, we continuously saw larger parties being seated ahead of us despite having a reservation. After waiting over an hour in the cold, we were finally told which table was supposed to be ours—only to find out there was still another party sitting there. Yeppa has a rule that larger parties with reservations (like ours) are allotted two hours for their table, meaning the other party should have left by 8:30. However, the staff made no effort to enforce this policy or ask them to leave.
When the other party finally got up, they made a snide comment to us: “We’re leaving so you guys can eat now.” This made it obvious the staff had told them about our reservation but still allowed them to linger. The entire situation felt unprofessional and disrespectful.
Once we were seated, our server was wonderful and very attentive, which we appreciated. However, this doesn’t excuse the fact that everything leading up to that point was absolutely horrible.
Yes, they gave us complimentary drinks and food, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that we were left outside for over an hour while staff failed to manage our reservation properly. For a restaurant with such a great reputation, this level of disorganization and lack of professionalism is unacceptable.
The food was good, and the service once we were seated was great, but the shocking mismanagement and disrespectful treatment leading up to that point completely overshadowed everything else. If Yeppa can’t respect their own policies for larger parties, treat customers with basic professionalism, or avoid seating other large groups ahead of those who’ve waited, it’s hard to justify ever coming back. No matter how good the food is, the disorganized and disrespectful service makes this place not...
Read moreWe stopped here off of shear excitement of how the reviews were without really reading them- mistake- first off you couldn’t really tell where the opening of the restaurant was not only because of it being cold with a slightly open wall/ cold shield- but because when we entered no one was at the host stand and when they got there they seemed surprised we had even stopped in- then they discussed on who it was who was going to take us- the restaurant had a total of 3 tables being used - so while they passed us along the third waitperson who hadn’t even been part of the first discussion was our waitstaff. Then they sat us in a small area of the restaurant that was squished against a counter and was a two top that was even smaller. Both my partner and I had to sit at an angle to fit- then I asked if they offered hot beverages like coffee or an espresso which they flatly said only coffee which was surprising since the espresso bar was feet from us being used to make drinks right as I asked- we just assumed maybe it was being fixed- no big deal- ordered cokes the and bread board- while we waited the waitstaff decided to complain to each other while making pizza boxes directly behind my back- while there was an entire restaurant not being used. We ordered a panini cotto-broccolini- and a lemon creme pasta with asparagus - the bread was the best part of the meal- minus it was doused in olive oil- the panini was barely warm, and the pasta had half a slice of asparagus on top which had sat under a lamp that turned it into a ball of sticky pasta ball. The broccolini was seasoned with an orange oil and garlic and barely cooked through- the wait person would show up but instantly disappear- I went to the restroom which when I looked around it seemed as if this place was suppose to be a bar/ nightclub that happen to sell food- and the way those who worked there acted the same way- my partner and I were leaving and walked out only to see that other parties had lattes and espresso drinks- now I’m super annoyed at the entire restaurant. We left and checked the reviews to see many of the reviews that were five stars were only five stars with no real review- if you want an overpriced meal with little to no understanding of how to treat customers this...
