I stayed at the Hyatt Place in Buckhead 6/10-12. Based on my experience I most certainly will never return!
The customer service from the moment I crossed the threshold was absolutely abhorrent! I checked in later in the evening, around 1130pm, and arrived to the door being locked. There was a call button on the wall which seemed to not work because I was pressing the button and attempting to gain the front desk attendants attention to no avail. The security guard who was sitting in the lobby alerted the woman that someone was waiting to be let in and words began to be exchanged about who’s job it was or wasn’t to let guests in. Once I was let in and got to the counter, I was not greeted politely at all. After giving my reservation information to the attendant, she asked for my ID and the card used to secure the room. I explained to her that the room had been reserved using Klarna and that if she gave me a moment, I would retrieve my card to complete the transaction. While getting my card out of my bag, she rudely asked “Do you not have the card?” I explained to her again that I was retrieving the card and would advise her when I was ready to pay. A few moments later when I was ready to pay I was shooed to another attendant who was only slightly more personable.
When we were finally checked in and into the parking garage, it was evident this would not be a typical Hyatt Place experience. The elevators were horrible! Most of them were littered with trash and smelled of urine. They also seem to be in need of more regular service. The elevator on the main level of the parking deck (level 2; to the right when you come in) grinds to a halt before it lets you off; almost feeling as though it won’t make it to the next floor. There is another elevator that had issues with the doors closing and even jerked as it was attempting to close.
When we got into the room itself (#719) I was blown away! The floors clearly have not ever been cleaned. They were disgusting! There were eyelash strips left in the corners on the floor, someone’s glasses were left under the coffee table, hair all long the counter and in the bowl and drain of the sink and a dead bug on the table. Thankfully I bought cleaning supplies with me.
The beds were decently made but too firm. The pillows were soft. The sheets did appear to be clean, but the comforters were definitely needing to be replaced. They were either filthy or washed so much that and stuffing is now crumbled and bunched up.
The bathroom was rather small but had a decent sized vanity space. The windows needed to be cleaned badly. One could not be seen through at all. Room service never came to clean or offer clean/more linens.
The only real pros were the location and the breakfast which one of the members of my party partook in both days of our stay. She enjoyed the variety offered.
I did express these concerns with the front desk representative (it was actually the same woman who checked me in) so I am hopeful that they work to make the necessary improvements. She did seem somewhat concerned about the information but that may have been due to her manager/supervisor being present at the time. They were nice and offered a credit of points for my troubles, so we will see if they apply the credits and...
Read moreOverall, I had a great experience with the Hyatt. I was in and out with a quick stay. For the most part, the front desk team is great. You can tell Corizma hates her job. Customer service shouldn’t be for everyone but special s/o to Chassey (sorry if the spelling is incorrect). She has a kind soul and a light and energy that the room & other employees feed off of. She’s a great leader and a great person to have representing the Hyatt when you walk in. I overheard her offering to check other buildings for the lost mail of an elderly woman due to all the buildings having the same address. Day 2 of the stay, she called me by name which shows that she took the extra time to know me upon check-in and then later spent time encouraging me for my audition. Other employees were great in helping me get toiletries, scissors, cups for tea during my stay. The hospitality was a big part of the experience. I had to stay an additional night after I check out and the hotel was able to accommodate without incident.
The room was a good size. No issue with any bed bugs or rodents. The room was clean but was a smoke smell on my sheets. I didn’t originally smell it when I walked in the room or when I checked the sheets but i did smell it when the sheets were closer to my face at night. It was uncomfortable and did affect my breathing. In my 1st room, the bathroom door handle was broken and wouldn’t lock. In the 2nd room, the toilet seat wasn’t clean from the last person. In both rooms, the piece of wood for the ledge was broken/wobbly. All minor things for me (minus the br). There’s a kitchen sink and mini fridge in the room but no microwave - there’s a communal one in the lobby. I could adjust the temp as needed in the room so I wasn’t stuck with the notoriously “hotel-cold” AC. Breakfast was great. Lots of options(Cereal, toast, fresh fruit, yogurt/oatmeal with toppings, breakfast tacos, French toast/waffles, breakfast potatoes, eggs, sausage). Printer wasn’t working for some documents I needed and couldn’t be fixed by staff member. Overall, very good experience, no drama. I would definitely stay again and recommend...
Read moreGood location, terrible placement. The paying for parking thing is ridiculous- and just another way to get some money from customers. The prices of drinks are RIDICULOUS- and to top that off they don’t even have a selection. It’s what you see is what you get. Crackheads and bums roam the entire area. No microwave in the room. SMALL refrigerator, someone said large refrigerator lol where?! Now let’s get to the reason I wrote this review- I’ve spent over 15K with the Hyatt it’s self in 3-4 months. I’ve stayed at many. This one? Let’s start with the night staff. There’s a tall heavyset female worker- night shift- attitude is HORRIBLE. I saw with my own two eyes customers walking in to get a room and due to her attitude and responses they walked right out. And super upset. No they said nothing wrong, walked in and asked for availability. Her response was so rude, smart and snarky they couldn’t even believe it. All while the security guard was standing there waiting to pick up her gossip session again. Speaking of- the security guard is the reason for this review. In no way shape or form should people be spending hundreds if not thousand of dollars to stay somewhere and don’t even feel comfortable due to it’s staff. The security guard overnight is a older woman (way older woman) with some of the worst Ora’s I’ve ever seen coming off someone. She’s rude. Smart mouthed. I think she thinks she runs the building at night. Her and the girl I mentioned above- sit with each other all night/ loud, laughing- then when you approach them they have a attitude or the guard gives this sickening look like it’s a issue you cut into their laughter. And no my company doesn’t pay for me/ this is out of pocket. I enjoyed It for the location, and some staff (ALL THE MALES) are super over the top nice. There’s a young girl on afternoons thats kind as well. But for the most part- your staff is what will run your customers away! Even us loyal ones. Heard buckhead was going down, I don’t think it’s buckhead I think it’s the people here and this hotel kinda solidified my opinion. My suggestion?...
