Read moreI used to have a lot of Persian friends; so I wouldn't compare this to a home-cooked meal. This is actually a Middle Eastern Restaurant and not Persian exclusive. I would have rather had a stew or lamb shank but see that's on the dinner menu and our meal was lunch.
I want to first say our server Shemika is in my Top 5 of Servers Ever. And I typically dine out weekly with planning out Foodie Vacations. She was politely engaging as my guest was running 30 minutes late. Our meal service was flawless and our table was spotless as plates changed out.
Luckily the restaurant had just opened for lunch and reception confirmed the restaurant could accommodate my reservation with a late guest. I think of you come at opening you can probably secure a table without a reservation.
The restaurant has a bright, open layout. We sat in the sunroom and I didn't have any problems hearing my guest like other reviews have mentioned. There were several larger tables surrounding our comfortable table for two.
We had following menu and off menu items:
Taftoun Flatbread with Sabzi Plate.
Zeytoun Parvardeh - Castelvetrano Green Olives, Walnuts and Pomegranate Seeds. I think this is mixed with Tahini.
Adana Kabob from the Dinner Menu - in House Ground Beef, Brisket of Lamb Shoulder, Peppers, Herbs, Onions, Saffron, Tomatoes, and Sumac. They also bring a container of Samac to the table.
Barg - Beef Tenderloin, Garlic, Onion, Citrus, and Saffron.
Adas Polo - Tahdig, Lentils, Raisins, Saffron, Basmati Rice, and Crispy Onions.
Lamb Bagdali (sp?) Off Menu Item - Shredded Lamb, Fava Beans, Eggs, Yogurt, and Light Tahdig.
Sauce - Garlic Toun with Lemon.
Ginger Date Cake - Candied Ginger, Dates, Brown Butter, Roasted Tahini Mousse, and Orange Zest served warm.
Zero Proofs:
Sharbat e Khiyar with Cucumber, Coconut, Mint and Citrus.
Iced Coconut Chai Tea with Ginger and Persian Tea.
My guest eats Persian food on a more regular basis than I do these days as she has a Persian co-worker and her office regularly orders Persian food. I had not had the Olives before. I liked it so much that I asked for my own serving to take home it went very well with the Flatbread. Although I will pair it with Basmati Rice for leftovers.
The Adana Kabob was a first try. I probably wouldn't order it again. I regret not asking if I could have ordered the Lamb Shank off the dinner menu.
My guest did inquire about another cut of meat off menu and it was available. It was a different cut if beef.
Some of the Shredded Lamb in the Lamb Bagdali was over cooked. I'm not sure if those were the pieces closest to the Tahdig. I really enjoyed the Fava Beans in this dish and the spice profile.
The cake was just a touch of sweetness. We both ordered the same dessert.
I rarely drink alcohol but if available will order a Zero Proof. I liked the chilled Cucumber and Coconut Water mix. I just wish they had a Rose Water Zero Proof.
Overall, I'd say the food was close to a 5.9,. The service was a 6.0. And ambiance wasclose to a 5. Beautiful enough for a date night but also great for a casual catchup.
Oh! I would like to say it's a bit odd you cannot free form a tip amount. I had not planned to pay cash during my Staycation so I didn't have enough to leave my typical for this type of restaurant. Card purchase max tip amount is 25%. You might want to plan to bring some cash for...
Read moreI reserved a time at 8:15 for dinner for my mom's birthday and my sister attended with me so it was 3 of us. When we got there to check in for a reservation friend that stated at their baby behind on reservations and then they'll let me know through text my table will be ready. Be patiently waited 15min and asked about a reservation and they still said not ready yet. And then another 10 minutes went by we went in there again and they finally let us through after us seeing multiple people walk in and be seated before us.
Now ordering food and things like that were really easy the service is very good the waiters did a absolutely great job.
Now for the food I ordered the honey harissa Chicken. Then my sister ordered the wings. And then my mom ordered the salmon kabob. For my chicken the skin was pretty burnt but the inside of the chicken was really good and that sauce was really good but for some reason going to multiple delbar locations the chicken is pretty much in your burn every time I order that. Now for the wings they had this watery taste to it. You can taste the seasonings but for some reason the chicken juice from the wings had a strong tap water taste to them. Now for the salmon kabob it was really good but it could definitely use some sides to complete it as a meal since the food pricing in general is pretty high. For appetizers it they were great especially the naan bread. We also ordered the roasted cauliflower and fries which both were really good and probably the best things we ordered. The zero proof drinks we ordered were the the mint drinks and the I had the pomegranate if that's the correct drink type. But the server did let us know that the mint drinks ingredients changed recently and it's more sour than sweet which ended up being something they didn't like at all anymore lol. The ambiance never fails when dining in Atlanta delbar locations. Our first 2 times at delbar was at the Alpharetta location which we also experienced similar things about the food and we wanted to try this location for a change. I think it'll be awhile until I give delbar another go. 3.5 at best for me. I'm a pretty decent food critique only because I come from home cooked meals so restaurant take a lot to impress me honestly. Many are lacking out here. I have to say it Nara is the best middle Eastern restaurant so far out here IMO. But hey that's just our family I truly do believe delbar is a pretty good spot but the little things do matter at the...
