Chai Yo is amazing!! The best thing we have eaten during the quarantine period. The social distancing made us feel so secure, and the staff was knowledgable and amazing. Please visit our food blog for more info at t_v_fooduniverse on Instagram.
Update from visit 11/11/14
Another Foodie Friday is in the books.
This most recent Friday we visited @chaiyomodernthai . A great place for a beautiful dining room, great service, and world class Thai food.
Here is what we had to eat and drink:
Drinks: Chai Talay- a tropical fusion of vodka, Lemongrass syrup, lime, and house made coconut cream ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ This drink was absolutely amazing!! Like a Thai style Pina colada with lemon grass!!
Food: Golden Pouches ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ These were amazing. Little pouches filled work tasty shrimp, chicken, and mushroom. The top closure had a nice crunch that added wonderful texture to the dish.
Drunken Noodles ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Chicken, shrimp, onion, bell pepper, bean sprouts, noodles in a Thai basil sauce. So yummy!!
Pork Belly ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Garlic chive blossom, onion, red bell pepper, Thai basil sauce.
Dessert: Thai Tea Creme Brule ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Slightly sweet, light, and yummy. Like tasting a Thai tea cloud with added sweetness.
Chai Yo has literally never failed us. This is world-class, A1, and amazing. It's what you get when the chef knows what they are doing, and every attention to detail is important. What an amazing experience as alway.

Read moreI went to Chai Yo last night to celebrate my friend's 40th birthday. The meal for 4 was over $500. Our dinner began at 7 PM and lasted until approximately 9:45 PM, but unfortunately, it was not the experience we had hoped for.
We encountered several issues that significantly affected our evening. The service was extremely slow across the board, including the bar, food, and water service. This caused the dinner to drag on in a way that was both noticeable and frustrating. (This seems to be a persistent problem at this restaurant based on other low-rating reviews).
Specifically, the lychee martinis were overly pulpy, which seemed unusual. The lag between ordering anything beverage or food related was 20-30 minutes from time to order to receipt with no check-ins from the servers. The appetizers we ordered were fried, but were greasy. The lamb chops were not cooked to the recommended medium rare, but were instead well done. The rice with my fish (their signature Chilean Sea Bass) was clearly stale/old rice.
One of the leads did come over at one point in the evening and asked if everything was okay and I gave feedback that the bar was slow and he (didn't apologize) but instead offered an excuse, "we have 2 large parties we are serving" and went to the bar to tell the bartender to step on it.
I noticed the staffing level was not appropriate for the number of diners, and as mentioned earlier, the service was extremely s l o w.
By the end of the evening, we were too tired and disappointed to address these concerns in person and sent an email to management, with no reply.
Given the high price point of this restaurant and Buckhead location, low food quality, and absent service, I am disappointed, and will not return or recommend...
Read moreI honestly had high expectations for tonight's Chai Yo BBQ cookout experience. One would expect hiccups being the first time organizing an event outside normal parameters but there was too much that went wrong that I thought it was worth sharing.
We had a party of 5 for 630 reservations. A few of us got there early to have a drink at the bar. We were seated promptly and enjoyed the music playing outside. Thank goodness for the predrink from the bar because we ordered a bottle wine that did not arrive at our table until 20 minutes later. The starters of the pre fixe menu did not arrive until 1 HOUR after we were seated. There was another large party that sat down right next to us 30 minutes after we sat and they received their starters before we did.
Meanwhile, the weather got cooler outside and the restaurant capitalized on customers getting cold and sold blankets. I also observed many customers request that they be moved inside.
One of the guests in my party had dietary restrictions and once confirmed by the waiter, there were no acommodations made for her.
It was like pulling teeth to have the next menu items be served at the table. Empty dessert plates and silverware sat our table for 30 minutes before the actual dessert finally came. The chef brought dessert to our table in an effort to make up for the fiasco of a night (2 desserts for a 5 person table), and asked if we would like ice cream with our dessert but never brought any.
This was my first visit to Chai Yo since the opened a couple of years ago. It'll be awhile more until i have any desire to return. If it wasn't for the good company at dinner, I would have lost my cool and patience...
