I was considering having a event at the Atlantic city convention center. I called but no one answered. I wanted to get a visual of the space. My wife and I decided to go and speak to someone and take a look at the space. When we arrived, instantly the security officer seemed alarmed and very apprehensive. I needed help. I wanted to find a help desk or customer service. But from the security officer demeanor, I didn't want to have a long dialog with him. So I asked him do they have a map directory. He told me they don't give that information out since 911. You can see and hear the fear in his face and voice. To calm his nerves i told him what we was there for. He quickly flagged another man like it was a emergency. I spoke to the other man. He was very cordial. He said I needed to speak to Michael Reynolds. He proceeded to get him for us. While we was waiting. Another female security officer came. They was staring and pointing at us. They made us feel very uncomfortable. Like we were up to something or criminals. Michael Reynolds came out and showed us around. He seemed nervous and distrustful of us too. They made my wife so uncomfortable, she walked out and waited for me outside. She later called me and told me she wanted to leave. When i was leaving i noticed security officers at different points staring my wife. We found out later that there's a map directory on the website. The security officer lied to us!!! Our experience there was horrible. We was treated like criminal terrorists. If you scared get another job!! We was dressed appropriate, was respectful, and conducted ourselves as adults. As a black man he could've put my wife and i lives and freedom at risk due to their suspicions...
Read moreVery clean and modern convention center. In the past month, I have been to three different convention centers. I have been to this one twice in the past month. I don't go to a convention center for the food... Just like you don't go to a concert for the food. So I am not going to discuss it. However, below I discuss other "non" convention center dining options.
The center has 4 floors of convention space. With escalators and elevator's. There is parking for a fee (price varies due to event). There is also valet service for a fee.
The convention center is on one side of the Sheraton Hotel. On the other side of the hotel is an outdoor Outlet Mall (Tanger Outlets) with several dining options. The Outlets are less than a 5 minute walk from the convention center.
The Boardwalk, Beach and Ceasars Casino are another 5 minute walk from the otherside of the outlets. ( So a 10 - 15 min walk from the convention center). Sometimes parking at Ceasars is cheaper than parking at the convention center. There is also more dining options at Ceasars and on the Boardwalk.
Also right behind Ceasars on the Beach is another mall called "Playground Pier" which has additional dining options.
So needless to say, don't listen to the people who complain about needing more options for places to eat at. And this is Atlantic City so nothing is going to be less expensive. Everything just costs more here. That's...
Read moreI attended my AKA Sorority Convention (NARC), from April 4-7th. My room was on the 11th floor, very near the elevator. It was as advertised 2 queen beds, with TV, nice size bathroom with shower. The only room feature that we didn't like was that the light switch for the bathroom was on the outside of the bathroom door.
We used Room Service and they did an excellent job fulfilling our order to perfection. Everything was still hot upon arrival.
Jalil checked us in on April 4th, Jamillah assisted me with retrieving my luggage from the room at 2:30 am Sunday Morning, So I could pack up my car early. She had the valet bring my car around and packed it as per my instructions. That way I was able to beat the check out rush!! Jamil did a great job in checking us out, and finally split the bill.
The only other issue that we had was, that my Roommate had made the original Reservations, using her Name and Credit Card, she added my name to the Reservation later. But, they said that they couldn't add my Credit Card To split the bill, until we checked out!! In all of the hotels that I've visited over 40 decades, this was the First Time that I ever recall having this experience!! All in all we had a had a...
