I've lived and loved living in this beautiful state all my life and started my life near Washington Park so, as it is in my humble opinion the best park ever so any park will fall short even if it's just biased. General's park is more like an addition to the university hospital complex but a lovely addition for sure. It's super tiny and yet has 2 separate covered sitting areas easily able to host a family gathering and 2 BBQ pits a decent little playground, a most rare treat in Colorado these days and has a very large pond or small lake that's always beautiful to watch the life that it hosts which is mostly a rather large geese community with a loner random duck here and there and a constant squawking of the geese that occasionally make their way near humans while they pick through the grass mounds for whatever 8n the heck they eat and that leads to the biggest problem, there's always just uhm, saying it without being gross, uh justice sure you pay attention to where you walk cause there's enough fertilizer around that they could be getting a paycheck by the state for keeping the grass, the sidewalks, the parking lots all very fertilized. So anyways, if you're over by the hospital and for some reason you need a quick park fix then this park will fix that fix but if you live not there and are looking for a park to drive to that's more than a mile a way , that's kinda weird but no judgements and I'd recommend not this park cause if you're making that kind of effort to see a park then I'd recommend Washington Park cause it's awesome and awesome things are some of my favorite things and that's my opinion and this review may actually take up more area than the park itself does and oh theres the mostest cutest and friendly squirrels that love almonds and especially macadamia nuts and if you decide to hand feed , uh don't cause they're super sweet animals but get crazed about nuts and as I can testify that they lose all ability to distinguish a macadamia from an index finger and although don't draw blood uh it does definitely hurt to have to remove your find from their vice like teeth. Third best squirrel community in the front range metro area. Happy new year and let kindness qnd love be the theme of this year and I'll start by ending this with love,...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I came to this park expecting a peaceful, well-kept spot based on the glowing reviews. What we found instead was honestly disgusting. The walkways were littered with goose poop, you had to constantly watch your step just to avoid tracking it everywhere. It was impossible to enjoy a casual stroll.
Worse, the pond was filled with trash. We’re talking plastic bottles, food containers, wrappers, all just floating there or trapped between rocks. It smelled bad in some spots, and it was clear no one had cleaned the area in a long time.
It’s really disappointing that a public space with so much potential is being neglected like this. We left after just a short walk, it was that bad. If this place is going to keep getting good reviews, then serious cleanup and maintenance needs to...
Read moreLocation is great for a family waiting for someone at the Anschutz Medical Center. However, people obviously aren't obeying the signs that say 2 hr parking for park patrons only. We were the only people in the park other than one homeless man and the parking lot was full. Lots of friendly geese and a little pond for them. We were thankful for the shade from trees because the playground was blazing hot early in the day; the slide and swings too hot to use. The area underneath the playground was dirty so I was uncomfortable with my young kids playing there. The restroom said "closed for winter" in the middle...
