10/10 ALL THE STARS, if you’re looking for a place to paddle board/kayak for the first time or anytime for that matter this is it! we had never paddled before and we chose to come here randomly, $25 for an hour, the staff was the nicest group of people we have probably ever met, we had a blast laughing with them at the dock and overall, photo opps are endless and beautiful, so much so we’re returning again tomorrow to paddle again. i have never had such a blast doing something in this city. i’m certain some people are apprehensive because it is riverside but it is less crowded, cleaner, and just overall a nicer area to paddle and not feel suffocated. there’s a parking garage to park your car while you’re out which you don’t have to pay for, 10/10 would do again. thank you to everyone there, we brought a friend from out of town and she is in love with the city because of it! ♥️

I chose this place bc they had canoes and we are a family of 4 from out of town trying this for the first time. The staff by the lake were awesome!!!! The guy in the office was a little more business and not quite as friendly. He tried really hard to talk us out of a canoe, and I'm so glad we got it anyway. It was so peaceful and much easier to manage than he claimed. I recommend taking a lunch and having a picnic on the water. There was a nice little red bridge we went under and enjoyed. Lots of turtles, beautiful scenery. Some cons to this location- NO WHERE TO CHANGE.and no bathrooms. We had to change in our car. Also, the rental office is a good 5 min walk away from the water. Other places were right on the water.

We really liked the free parking, free water, free lockers, a place to change and friendly staff. The bat tour was pretty neat too, but honestly probably should have been cancelled. Too cloudy to see the sunset, get we were assured the storm would hold off. We got to the bridge and heard all about the bats and before the bats started to come out the tour guide informed us we needed to immediately head back now, we couldn't stay to see the bats, which was disappointing as we'd already missed sunset due to the clouds. The guide raced ahead and ran inside the shop before the rain hit. Leaving behind the majority of the group, including children. We were left behind as it started pouring rain and lighting was striking around us. We had no instruction from the guide as he was long gone so we weren't sure if we should continue on or get out of the water due to the lightening. It was terrifying. We had to stop to take shelter under a dock. We had a hard time finding our way back with no guide as it was dark and the pouring rain made it hard to see. When we finally arrived, another group was complaining about the unprofessional behavior and were told "you were safe the whole time". We did not feel safe and I doubt he knew how close the lightening was to us as he was out of his kayak and in the shop before the storm even hit. This was confirmed by others who happened to paddle fast enough to dock at the same time he did, which were only two of many many kayakers. There was no way he could have known if we were safe or not as he wasn't there and it's scary to think something could have happened out there in the dark, pouring rain, lightening striking and no one from the company would have even known to send rescue until it would have been too late because no one was on the water with us. Then to claim we were over reacting because we didn't feel safe? Very unprofessional. A shame because otherwise this was a really great company I would have loved to do business with again if I felt they cared...

Hello,

Just some feedback as unfortunately it was a painful experience. I have only been SUP a few times, and had rented from y’all in the past. I asked the two younger gentleman large board ( I am 6/9 and 255lbs). They replied all the board are out and the ones they have would be fine.

Well… is was a brutal experience. I notice down the river by Austin how hard it was to paddle. The water was above the yellow fringe and on the blue foam. Not good, as I noticed that wasn’t nearly the case with others on the water. I was stretched and tapped just going. Not to mention the long rudder kept getting tangled up in the vines.. which I had to remove.

The most frustrating part as I returned exhausted was the new attendant who I asked was the board broken or was it made for someone my size. He apologized as said he wished he was there when we departed because they had such a board for someone my size…. And the two early attendants knew that… but didn’t put in the effort to get the board which was stored in the back.

Really disappointing for a special time planned for my visit with my brother from out of town.

Quinn

Ps- I sent the above to management on Monday 3rd after a June 1st visit. Disappointing 5 days later...

Bruhhh I had so much fun! I am African so you know us and water is like oil and water . We don't mix. But I wanted to do something that was different and I am glad I did. The guy that showed us and taught us how to paddle ( can't remember his name) he was too funny and really patient with me and my husband. Cause bruhh we were struggling!!! YEASSSS but we finally got it though. I really like the story of the bats. I didn't know they eat mosquitoes..you know in Nigeria we do not do BATS. But I think we may need to put our bias behind and use the bats for our advantage. Okay back to this review, I really enjoyed it. Now will I do it again; Nahhh I will do the electric one because for some weird reason, coming back, since you are going against the wind. It seems forever . 😤😤😤😤 I was tired!! Bruhh remain a little and I would have walked on water because I was done😄😄😄. Should you try it: ABSOLUTELY! Wear shorts because your boat will get water and you will get wet. Wear your vest because we don't want to see you in the news 😎😎if you can't swim. okay that is is . I rarely give out 5 outs but for this I will: it is a one time thing...
